學英語,必須掌握其語法基礎知識。因此,如何采取更有效的語法教學方法,提高教學質量迫在眉睫,我們在研究有關教育和語言教學理論的基礎上,結合英語教學改革的精神,提出了“四步法”,即“語言接觸——理解體驗——語言聚焦——自主運用”。
語言接觸實際起導入的作用,在信息加工模型中屬于短時記憶的刺激材料,目的是為下一環節的教學做準備。
學生在這一環節會看到更多的圖片,更多的不同用法的例句,結合教師的講解和指導,逐漸加深對某一語法項目的理解。這一階段屬于高級思維活動,也體現里探究和自主學習的理念。
學生在這一階段,和教師一起歸納總結語法的規則,校對剛才在自己頭腦中形成的規則,不斷修正,屬于長時記憶的內容。
在人際交往中得體地使用英語的能力,也就是語言學習過程的輸出環節,內容包括控制性練習和拓展性練習,要模擬生活實際,用語法規則解決實際問題。
案例:定語從句的教學
在教學中,教師應發揮學生學習的主動性,培養學生的觀察能力和思考能力,盡可能地為學生創設貼近實際生活的真實語言情景,讓學生懂得語言意思。在學習定語從句時,讓學生欣賞英文歌曲 The One You Love;分析查找定語從句;探究歸納定語從句結構特點,合作學習,鞏固練習。
英文金曲中的句子地道,瑯瑯上口,把英文金曲中的句子用到英語語法教學中,能更好地調動學生學英語的積極性,能用較短的時間既記住該句子又記住該語法項目,還輕松地記住了一些地道、經典的句子,為“在人際交往中得體地使用英語”奠定基礎。
為了創設語言的輸出,內化語法規則,從而達到語言的自主運用,筆者選擇了一段素材,幾乎每句都含有定語從句,要求學生用所學的關系詞填空。內容如下:
I will tell you a story that is very interesting.It is about a young man who was called Tom.Tom married a girl whose name was Jane.Jane was the girl whom Tom loved deeply.They lived in a house which was built by Tom’s father.It is in the house where he was born that they got married.Tom liked to write stories and Jane loved all the stories that Tom wrote.They had 5 children,of whom 3 were boys.The children were very clever,which made Tom very happy.All the children went to college,as their parents expected.Tom once said he would never forget the day when he met Jane.That was the reason why he wanted to marry her.Jane said that Tom was the person with whom she would live for a whole life.Their children live in a family where the parents are treating them like a friend.We all admire the way(in which/that)Tom treats his children.He is such a good man as everyone would like to live with.
Tom is one of the villagers who have been reported in the newspaper and he is the only one of those villagers who has acted in a film.
這一過程是對學生的學習效果的及時檢測,體現的新課標所倡導的“語言接觸——理解體驗——語言聚焦——自主運用”。這樣的語法課,教師需要做的事就是設計各種情景,用畫片、表演等手段使其形象化,使語法還原成實踐。
筆者認為,“語言接觸——理解體驗——語言聚焦——自主運用”的語法教學模式有以下幾個特點:
(1)以學生為主體,關注學習過程,引導學生主動參與,使語法教學由單一的認知性教學轉向多維的體驗性教學,有接受型學習轉變為發現型學習。學生寬松的課堂氛圍中,協作、討論,動口、動手、動眼、動腦,讓語法課堂成為學生在教室的引導下反思、建構的過程。
(2)傳統的教學模式也不應該放棄,但應以創設語言學習和運用的情境為基礎,重視學習內容的生活性,兼有歸納法和演繹法,將分析和體驗相結合,是傳統教學法的發展和前進。
