英譯《和時(shí)間賽跑》

《和時(shí)間賽跑》原文：

讀小學(xué)的時(shí)候，我的外祖母過(guò)世了。外祖母生前最疼愛(ài)我，我無(wú)法排除自己的憂傷，每天在學(xué)校的操場(chǎng)上一圈又一圈地跑著，跑得累倒在地下，撲在草坪上痛哭。

那哀痛的日子，斷斷續(xù)續(xù)地持續(xù)了很久。爸爸媽媽也不知道如何安慰我，他們知道與其騙我說(shuō)外祖母睡著了，還不如對(duì)我說(shuō)實(shí)話：外祖母永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)回來(lái)了。

“什么是永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)回來(lái)呢？”我問(wèn)著。

“所有時(shí)間時(shí)的事物，都永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)回來(lái)。你的昨天過(guò)去了，它就永遠(yuǎn)變成昨天，你不能再回到昨天。爸爸以前也和你一樣小，現(xiàn)在也不能回到你這么小的童年了；有一天你會(huì)長(zhǎng)大，你會(huì)像外祖母一樣老；有一天你度過(guò)了你的時(shí)間，就永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)回來(lái)了。”爸爸說(shuō)。

爸爸等于給我一個(gè)謎語(yǔ)，這謎語(yǔ)比課本上的“日歷掛在墻壁，一天撕去一頁(yè)，使我心里著急”和“一寸光陰一寸金，寸金難買寸光陰”還讓我感到可怕；也比作文本上的“光陰似箭，日月如梭”更讓我覺(jué)得有一種說(shuō)不出的滋味。

每天放學(xué)回來(lái)，我在庭院里看到太陽(yáng)一寸一寸地落下去，就知道這一天快要過(guò)去了。雖然知道明天太陽(yáng)還會(huì)升起來(lái)，但是今天永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)再來(lái)了。

我看見(jiàn)小鳥(niǎo)向自己的巢飛去，飛得好快呀！明天，它們可能沿著同樣的路線飛過(guò)，可時(shí)間已經(jīng)不是今天，小鳥(niǎo)也不是今天的樣子，它們一定也變了。

時(shí)間過(guò)得飛快，使我的小心眼里不只是著急，而且是悲傷。有一天我放學(xué)回家，看到太陽(yáng)快落山了，就下決心說(shuō)：“我要比太陽(yáng)更快地回家?！蔽铱癖蓟厝ィ驹谕ピ呵按瓪獾臅r(shí)候，看到太陽(yáng)不定期露著半邊臉，我高興地跳躍起來(lái)，那一天我跑贏了太陽(yáng)。以后我就時(shí)常做那樣的游戲，有時(shí)和太陽(yáng)賽跑，有時(shí)和西北風(fēng)比快，有時(shí)一個(gè)暑假才能做完的作業(yè)，我十天就做完了；那時(shí)我三年級(jí)，常常把哥哥五年級(jí)的作業(yè)拿來(lái)做。

童年養(yǎng)成和時(shí)間賽跑的習(xí)慣，在后來(lái)的幾十年里使我受益不淺。我知道人永遠(yuǎn)跑不過(guò)時(shí)間，但是人可以在自己擁有的時(shí)間里快跑幾步。盡管那幾步很小很小，作用卻很大很大。

如果將來(lái)我有什么要教給我的孩子，我會(huì)告訴他：假如你一直和時(shí)間賽跑，你就可以成功！

The Race with Time

My grandmother passed away when I was a primary school pupil. Since she put me the apple of her eyes， I couldn’t give vent to my pent-up sadness so much so that I ran on the playground of my school every day until I was too tired to move. Then I fell down to the grassland with lots of tears trickling down my face.

Those sorrowful days lasted for quite a long time off and on. My parents also failed to comfort me， because they knew it was better to tell me the fact that grandmother would never come back rather than cheat me by saying she was asleep.

“What do you mean by never come back？” I asked.

“Everything in the course of time will never come back. For example， your yesterday will be yesterday forever once it goes away， and you can’t return to yesterday. My son， I used to be a small kid like you， but now I cannot return to such a childhood you have. One day， you will grow up and become as old as your grandmother. One day， you will never come back after you spend all your time.” My father explained to me.

Father’s words was a puzzle to me， which made me more frightened than the two sentences on the text books： “The calendar on the wall worries me for one page was taken off every day” and “Time is money， but it’s difficult for you to use money to get time”. It also made me feel more terrible than the idiom I wrote on my composition exercise book： “How time flies！”

Every day after school I would watch the sun setting in the yard of my home， and I realized the very day was passing. Although the sun would rise again tomorrow， I knew today would never come back.

I saw birds flying back to their nests. How fast they flew. Tomorrow， they would perhaps fly past in the same route but the time was not today. The birds would not be what they were today， because changes must have taken place to them.

Time flies， which causes my heart to be not only worried but also grieved. One day after school when I was on my way back home， I made up my mind by saying “I will go home faster than the sun” after I saw the sun was setting. Therefore I spared no effort to run home in a fast speed. On arrival at my yard， I kept gasping for breath， but the sun was still setting with half its face outside. I was then beside myself with joy because I won the race with the sun. From that day on， I often play games in that form， sometimes with the sun and sometimes with the northwestern wind. Sometimes I finished the homework of summer vocation in ten days， while it used to take me the whole vocation to do that. I was in grade three then， but sometimes I would do the homework of my brother who was in grade five.

The habit of chasing with the sun formed in my childhood has done me great benefits in the later decades. I do know that man will never catch up with time， but they can run faster and more in their own time. Despite the small steps， the influence will be great.

If I have something to impart to my child， I will tell him： Keep running with time and you will succeed！
