一、教學目標
本單元的中心話題是physical appearance。通過本課時的學習,大多數學生能夠通過人物的身高、體重、頭發及其他細節談論外貌。同時,大多數學生能通過同伴的描述,找出同伴描述的人物。
1.知識目標。
①重點詞匯:hair,tall,heavy,thin,medium,height,build,like,always,curly等
②重點句型:What does he look like?He is of medium build.
What does she look like?She is tall.And she has...hair.
2.技能目標。通過描述和談論人物的身高、體重和頭發等,學生學會準確使用相應的形容詞進行外貌描述。學生通過聽,獲得有關人物外貌的關鍵信息。
3.文化意識。學習描述人物的形容詞及多個形容詞修飾同一名詞的詞序,幫助學生了解中西方文化的差異。
二、教學重點
1.有關談論人物身高、體重和頭發的描述性形容詞。
2.如何正確區分be動詞和have/has的使用。
3.如何就人物的外貌進行問答。
三、教學難點及解決辦法
1.如何使用“medium”對人物身高進行描述,其發音也是難點。方法:通過比較圖片人物的身高數據,并配以解說He is not tall or short.He is of medium height.讓學生猜測medium的意思。
2.學生可能在“is”和“has”的正確使用上有困難。方法:在2b聽力結束后,總結be動詞和have/has在描述人物外貌時的區別,然后通過練習鞏固理解。
四、教學步驟
Step1 Presentation
T:Hello,everyone.Nice to meet you!Look!Whos that?Hes He Jong,my favorite host.He is very interesting and friendly.And he has many friends.Do you want to know He Jongs friends?
1.Height.Show the pictures of Lin Shuhao,Guo Jingming(通過對比身高數據引導學生說出tall和short。)Then,show the picture of Wang Han.Ask:“How about Wang Han?He is not tall or he is not short.What does he look like?”(幫助學生說出“He is of medium height.”)Then ask:Who is of medium height in our class?(要求學生說完整的句子,并確認學生medium的發音是正確的。)
2.Build.Show pictures of Han Hong and Yang Mi.(對比體重數據引導學生說出heavy和thin show。Then show the picture of Zhao Wei (of medium bulid).Ask:“Who is of medium height in our class?”Ss show their ideas.
3.Hair.First,show pictures of four people with different hairstyles: short curly hair,long straight hair,short straight hair,long curly hair.Then ask students to talk about their own hairstyles.At last,play a game.Design a new hairstyle for your partner.
Step 2 Practice
1.Activity1a:Match the words with the people.(要求學生用句子說出自己的答案。)
2. Activity1b:Listen and find Amys friend.
3.Listening 2a and 2b.
①Activity2a:Listen and answer questions.這里出現的是選擇問句,要求學生劃出每一句的關鍵詞,并圈出聽到的答案。
②Activity2b:Fill in the chart.這部分主要是聽描述性形容詞,提醒學生聽出是用is還是has,介紹速記技巧,只寫下單詞的首字母,聽力結束后再補充完整。校對完答案后進行模音練習,注意語調的模仿。
4.總結be動詞和have/has在描述人物外貌時的區別,并配以相應強化練習。
5.Pairwork.Students talk about a person they like.提醒學生在交談的過程中,注意對方is和has使用是否正確。
A:What does your look like?
B:He/She is....and...And he/she has...hair.
A:Is he/she...?(name/...)
B:Yes,he/she is./No,he/she is...
Step3 Guessing game
Ask one student to guess “Who is he/she?”,other students look at the picture and describe the person.They say like this:He/She is...He/She has...He/She wears...He/She likes...(教師事先選好班里特點較明顯的學生照片,要求先描述外貌,再談及衣著和愛好等其他特點,不允許談到人名。每個學生只允許講述一個特點。這樣難度從低到高,讓各個層次的學生都有機會參與)。
Step4 Summary
How to describe a persons appearance?引導學生看板書,總結從哪幾個方面描述人物的外貌,并關注動詞的使用。
Step5 Homework
1.描述父母及家庭成員的外貌特征,并和同伴進行交流。
2.查字典找出更多修飾人物外貌的詞匯。
