Francis Scott Fitzgerald is one of the greatest Americannovelist. And he is a most representative author of
\"the LostGeneration”. The Great Gatsby is now generally considerednot only F. Scott Fitzgerald' s best novel but an importantAmerican classic. It is not simply a chronicle of the Jazz Agebut rather a dramatization of the betrayal of the naive AmericanDream. This paper deals with the symbolic significance of thesetting in the novel。
