幾個常考代詞的區分

在英語的單項選擇題中,常常會考查對這幾個代詞的區分:one, ones; the one, the ones; that, those。

下面筆者通過例句對這幾個詞進行區分,希望對同學們有所幫助。

1. one和ones都是泛指前面出現的可數名詞,one指代單數,相當于a/an+單數名詞。ones指代復數,相當于復數名詞。例如:

——There is still a copy of the book in the library. Will you go and borrow it?

——No, Id rather buy one in the bookstore.(07 陜西高考)

(one=a copy of the book)

Cars do cause us some health problems—in fact far more serious ones than mobile phones do.(05江西高考)

2. the one和the ones都是特指前面提到的可數名詞,the one指代單數,相當于the+可數名詞單數,有時可用that替代(尤其在有后置定語的情況下)。the ones指代復數,相當于the+可數名詞復數,有時可用those替代(尤其在有后置定語的情況下)。例如:

——Where did the scholarship of this term you had got go, Lucy?

——On a computer, the one/that on the desk over there. (05福建達標質檢)

The books on the desk are more interesting than the ones/those in the box.

3. that和 those 都是特指,that用來代替前面出現的的單數可數名詞或不可數名詞,相當于the+單數/不可數名詞,需要有后置定語。those用來代替可數名詞復數,也常需要有后置定語。例如:

The information on the Internet gets around much more rapidly than that in the newspaper.(07遼寧高考)
