This poster can be found inside a subway car in San Francisco. It reminds commuters to watch for anything they think out of place. The police in charge of the subway system hang up the sign because they are worried about terrorism. An unattended bag could contain a bomb.

The bottom of the sign gives three ways to report any suspicious(可疑的) packages. A surprisingly high number of city citizens in China suffer from poor health and many die at an early age.

Poor health with no sign of any identified(確定的) disease， a condition known in China as “sub health”， is on the rise. Sub health is marked by general weakness， low energy levels and a poor immune system.

A survey held in 16 cities with over 1 million population showed high rate of urban Chinese have been suffering sub health problems.

The numbers are particularly high in Beijing， Shanghai and Guangzhou， with 75.31， 73.49， and 73.41 percent respectively of residents in poor health， the survey showed.

The problem happens mostly among senior and middle-level managers， clerks and other white-collar workers with high education levels， said the website of the Red Cross Society of China.

“The sub health condition， found in most cases among groups of people with a high educational level， will have bad effects on China’s long-term development and progress if not dealt timely and properly，” the website warned.

A report published by the China Sub Health Academic Seminar said the country’s health is going through a transitional(過渡的) period and many long-term diseases have taken the place of infectious diseases such as SARS， flu as the main cause of death.

“Bad working habits， poor disease prevention knowledge， not enough governmental investment and lack of health education are the main reasons，” said Yang Xiaoduo， a healthcare expert with a local health association， who said China should race against time seeking measures to solve the sub health problem.

King Kong is a movie about an adventure on an island called Skull， where an oversize gorilla named Kong falls in love with a blonde beauty.

It has been 72 years since the story was first brought to the screen. But the latest movie version is a box office hit in the US. Every 10-year-old boy knows Kong， and his image is used to sell everything from insurance to snacks.

So what is it that makes the story attractive to generations of Americans?

Set in the Great Depression of the 1930s， the film follows New York actress Ann Darrow， who is forced to act as a leading lady in a movie. She was taken to the Skull Island， where she was caught by the aboriginals， who want to sacrifice her to King Kong， a gorilla. But instead of eating Ann， King Kong saves her. He is captured and dragged back to New York. There he bursts free and climbs the Empire State Building in search of Ann.

Why did King Kong appear in 1937 and why is he back now?

In 1933 a worldwide economic depression threw the future into doubt. “The monster represents American workers’ feelings at being caged by forces beyond their control，” says Gerald Molyneaux， the biographer of Charlie Chaplin.

Now， once again， Americans worry about their future in an age of terror， threatened by the presence of al-Qaida (基地組織).

But some people， on the other hand， see the movie just as what it is.

“I am confident the story is not any type of social or political symbol，” says artist Dave Dorman， creator of the cover illustrations for the new King Kong comic books.“Sometimes a gorilla is just a gorilla.”

A recent experiment held in Japan shows that it is almost impossible for people to walk exactly straight for 60 metres. Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology found 20 healthy men and asked them to walk as straight as possible to a target 60 metres away at normal speed. Each man had to walk on white paper fixed flat to the floor wearing wet colored socks. The footprints revealed that all walked in a winding rather than a straight line.Researchers found that people readjust the direction of walking every few seconds. The amount of tile winding differed from subject to subject. This suggests that none of us can walk in a strictly straight line. We walk in a winding way mainly because of a slight structural or functional imbalance of our limbs(四肢). Although we may start walking in a straight line， several steps afterwards we have changed direction.

Eyesight helps us to correct the direction of walking and leads us to the target. Your ears also help you walk. After turning around a lot with your eyes closing， you can hardly stand still， let alone walk straight. It’s all because your ears help you balance. Inside your inner ear there is a structure contains liquids. On the sides of the organ are many tiny hair-like structures that move around as the liquid flows. When you spin(旋轉(zhuǎn)) the liquid inside also spins. The difference is that when you stop， the liquid continues to spin for a while. Dizziness(暈旋) is the result of these nerves in your ear. When you open your eyes， although your eyesight tells you to walk in a straight line， your brain will trust your ears more， thus you walk in a curved line.
