Internet Usage in China by Age
The graph shows changes in the age profile of internet users in China between 2003 and 2004.
The main users of the internet in China are young adults between 18 and 30 years old.In 2003,they accounted for 56.3%of all users.In 2004 the number dropped significantly to 51.3%,yet they were still the biggest group.
The following fact may explain the significant drop.The number of children on-line increased slightly from 17.1%to 18.8%.Meanwhile,the humber of users aged between 31 and 50 increased from 23.7%in 2003 to 26.1%in 2004.There weresimilar increases for elder users,rising from 2.9%in 2003 to 3.8%in 2004.
In summary,while adults between 18 and 30 still represent the majority of in-ternet users in China,their share is declining as more children and elder adults jointhe web.
