檔案術(shù)語對應(yīng)詞record和records的概念與運用再探

摘 ?要：檔案術(shù)語record和records的內(nèi)涵和譯法長期以來是檔案界關(guān)注和討論的焦點之一。本文從record和records的詞源、定義和內(nèi)涵入手，分析國內(nèi)該術(shù)語存在的譯名爭議背后的原因，從中外檔案管理工作的本質(zhì)出發(fā)，提出record和records的具體譯名應(yīng)結(jié)合實際語境而定。

Abstract： The connotation and translation of ‘record and ‘records， two terms of archival science， have been the focus of attention and discussion among professionals and scholars in archival field for a long time. This paper analyzes the origin， definition and connotation of record and records， and discusses reasons behind various Chinese versions of these two terms. Bearing the nature of archives management in mind， the author attempts to propose that the translation of these two terms should be determined by the context.

在檔案管理領(lǐng)域，文件、檔案屬于常用術(shù)語，也是其中的核心術(shù)語，對于具體的檔案管理和研究工作的展開具有重要意義。術(shù)語通常是指某一領(lǐng)域內(nèi)指稱概念的詞或詞組，具有特定的內(nèi)涵與外延。“專業(yè)領(lǐng)域內(nèi)的概念往往包含多個本質(zhì)特征，其實質(zhì)無法僅僅借助一個詞或詞組就把這些本質(zhì)特征都傳達出來的。”[1]術(shù)語所代表的本質(zhì)特征需要結(jié)合特定領(lǐng)域進行理解與詮釋。

在檔案管理領(lǐng)域，英文record和records普遍被拿來與中文的“文件”“記錄”或“檔案”對應(yīng)。隨著時代的發(fā)展，電子信息技術(shù)日益發(fā)達，檔案管理進入電子化和信息化時代，檔案管理模式較之紙質(zhì)檔案時期也有了較大變化。檔案管理周期改變了過去傳統(tǒng)的線性、單向模式，進入可循環(huán)遞歸的新型管理模式。在這一大環(huán)境下，某些傳統(tǒng)檔案術(shù)語的應(yīng)用場景必然也隨之變化。

檔案術(shù)語翻譯的準(zhǔn)確性再次成為從業(yè)者討論的重點話題之一，其中record和records由于涉及檔案管理核心工作，其概念和運用場景尤其具有代表意義和討論價值。
