1Hours before the sun rises over Van, a beautiful city in the far east of Türkiye surrounded by rolling hillsides and a spectacular lake, preparations have already been made for the most important meal of the day. By 5 am, the delicious smell of breakfast is floating across Van's famous “Breakfast Street”. Here, dozens of traders get up early every day and open for their business to provide the region's morning feast.

6Local authorities have even submitted an application to the UNESCO with the purpose of ensuring that the region's distinctive breakfast can be added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
