Exploration and Reflections on Improving the Quality of English Teaching for Graduate Students

【Abstract】In recent years, the scale of Chinas masters enrollment has been expanding, and the issue of further improving its English teaching level is imminent.Aiming at the problems existing in the English education of postgraduates, this paper proposes specific solutions to improve the quality of English teaching at the master level and further improve the English level of master students.

In the context of deepening the reform of masters education in China, re-optimizing and innovating the English teaching model for masters has become an important issue for masters training.

1. Problems Existing in the Teaching of English for Master Students

1.1 Curriculum is not scientific enough

Although universities and colleges nominally combine compulsory and elective courses, students dont have the right and opportunity to choose. Elective courses have become compulsory courses and compulsory courses have become core courses. This situation cannot meet the individual needs of students.

1.2 The teaching staff needs to be replenished

At present, the replenishment and renewal of the teaching staff is far from the growth rate of the number of graduate students, and the gap between the teaching staff is very large, which directly affects the quality of graduate English teaching.

2. Countermeasures to Improve the Quality of English Teaching for Postgraduates

2.1 Improve the curriculum system

Before setting up courses, we should investigate and analyze the needs of masters of various majors, and then develop a scientific, reasonable English curriculum system that can meet the needs of masters of different majors.

2.2 Strengthen cooperation and strengthen teacher construction

Cultivate outstanding backbone teachers with development potential through the school-school cooperation model, using the advantages of key institutions.

This article analyzes in depth the problems existing in English teaching for Chinese master students and proposes solutions to improve the quality of English teaching for master students and the level and level of cultivation.
