【Abstract】Cultivating a good relationship between students and teachers in the college English teaching helps students learn much better than before and is also helpful for teachers to give an interesting class. In this article, the ways of building a good relationship between students and teachers are been presented.

1. Introduction

One of the most important relationships in college English teaching is the relationship between students and teachers, which is also the unavoidable problem for the teachers. However there still exists some disharmonious relationship between them, which leads to a harmful influence for the achievement of the goal of the English teaching. The key to improve the relationship is based on the mutual influence between students and teachers in English learning process, especially the influence of English teachers.

2. The significance of building a harmonious relationship between teachers and students in college English learning

If there is a good relationship between students and teachers, all of them are benefit. For students, they can absorb much more English knowledge for further competition. As we all know, English is an essential skill for students to get a job in the future. If they can learn English well, they may have much more opportunities to contact with others, especially foreign countries. Also in such a good relationship, students learn to respect their teachers and respect the fruits of teachers labor. Students make much more efforts in their life and to live better than before.

3. The methods to establish harmonious relationship between teachers and students

3.1 Teachers activities in college English learning

Teachers are the leaders in the classroom and they are also the guides in the relationship between students and teachers. In general, teachers should be a passion and cheerful people in the life and teaching. Students are more willing to be with this kind of teachers. In college, teachers should firstly be good teachers in the class, which means they should present interesting lessons for the students. This is the first step for an excellent teacher. To get this goal, they should pay more attention to master teaching methods as much as possible. They should learn English very well and what is more important is to make them easy for the students to learn. For example, teachers should learn that they may be wrong in some aspects, or even in the teaching activities.

3.2 Students activities in college English learning

In the modern society, the students pay more attention to humanistic care freedom democracy. Students should firstly be taught to learn how to respect people including teachers, especially in the class. Learning to respect people and then learn the knowledge. However blindly worship on teachers should be avoided. That is to say, students should learn English knowledge from their teachers but thinking by themselves. They should be active in putting forward different questions and learn to solve by themselves or under the guide of the teachers. It is not only the change of their learning methods but also their mind. It should take a long time and do much effort for them to get these changes. Students in the college also know that they should keep learning all their life.

3.3 Colleges activities in college English learning

Strengthen the propaganda and education of socialist core values is the premise of building a harmonious relationship between teachers and students in college English learning. To build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students in colleges is a component of building a harmonious socialist society, especially the harmonious interpersonal relationship. Therefore, in order to build a harmonious interpersonal relationship, including the relationship between teachers and students in colleges, colleges should strength the education of the harmonious socialist society.

4. Conclusion and limitations

In this article, the significance of the relationship between students and teachers in college English learning is been put forward. However, there still some limitations in this article. For example, some suggestions are still too theoretical, or some suggestion should take a long time to get a fine result, like changing the mind of some teachers and students, cultivating a good learning habits and being interested in English learning.
