Students’Choice for Computers

【Abstract】Nowadays，computers are widely used as useful tools for our daily life.So you can see students using computers everywhere.The purpose of our survey is to find out the answers to the following questions：1.What brand of computers do students often choose？2.What is the most important factor of choosing computers in students idea？3.What do students want to do with computers most？ After that，we hope the students will know what kind of computers they really need and how many factors must be thought about when buying computers.

1.Introduction

1.1 Background

Nowadays，computers are widely used as useful tools for our daily life.They can make us work more efficiently.With the help of computers，we can get more information for our work and study.And we can also enjoy ourselves in chatting，playing，writing on computers.What is more，computers can work more quickly and correctly than human beings.

1.1.1 What brand of computers do students often choose？

1.1.2 What is the most important factor of choosing computers in students idea？

1.1.3 What do students want to do with computers most？

After that，we hope the students will know what kind of computers they really need and how many factors must be thought about when buying computers.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Some of the students choose computers according to the introduction from their relatives and friends，some just want the cheaper ones，the others believe the description in advertisements.They never stop to think about what kind of computers they really need.[5]

1.3 Significance of the Survey

Thanks to computers，we dont have to look up any literature for information as we used to do.Every day well use computers to help with our study，In our college campus，you can see students using their personal computers everywhere.So we should learn how to choose computers.They connect us with the whole world at home，so the world will become smaller and smaller.I hope the survey result will help the students know what kind of computers are really fit for them.

Chapter 2.Literature Links

It is said that the whole world is getting to urbanization.Computers are important as they are part of our life.Things you can do with your computer are projects，work，creating presentations，developing softwares，writing scripts，developing new things，customizing your computer，shopping，chatting，calling，and keeping yourself up to date with newsletters.There are so many things you can do with your computer.And we can communicate with other people all over the globe by typing words on the screen.With a phone connected to the computers USB port we can make phone calls all over the world very cheaply.（ from the www.yahoo.com ）Thats why I believe everybody will realize the importance of computers.Besides，nearly 80% jobs require you to have knowledge on IT field.You need computers to carry out your research and do your assignments.[3]

Computers are first invented by Charles Babbage.He was born in 1837.Descriptions from the Wikipedia are as follows，“A computer is a machine for manipulating data according to a list of instructions.Computers take numerous physical forms.Early electronic computers were the size of a large room，consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers.Today，computers can be made small enough to fit into a wrist watch and be powered from a watch battery.”[1]

Chapter 3.Methods

A questionnaire was given to 30 International students who are at the age of 18 to 30 and studying at PPIB，UMS.It was a successful quantitative research，because we can easily find out the answers to those 5 questions according to the findings.

Chapter 4.Findings

The respondents are classified according to their gender，and the percentage （%）calculations for the 30 distributed questionnaires are as follows.[4]

Chapter 5.Summary

From the data，we can see that to get relaxed by chatting or playing on line is the aim for students to buy computers.Besides，price and advertising will be thought most when buying computers.Thats why Hp and Acer are the choice of most students in PPIB，UMS.[4]

Chapter 6.Advice

There are many popular brands，such as IBM，SONY，HP，DELL，NEC，ASUS，MSI，ACER，LENOVO and IPOD.Among them，the IBM computers are for business，and they are the most expensive because of the good quality.The SONY computers are good-looking，they also cost much.The IPOD computers are very cute.As for the HP and ACER computers，they are cheaper than the other brands.[3]
