Gladiolas[劍蘭] in a white vase, Their magenta[品紅色的] faces shining
In the early morning light
Streaming through a windowpane[窗格] Speckled with last night’s raindrops,
Bring me to wakefulness, Adoration[愛慕], and hope.
Another volley[齊發] of blossom
Unfolds atop their stems,
Assuring me that on the morrow[次日]
I shall yet have their company.
Breathing gratitude[感激], I pour cool water from a crystal pitcher[大水罐]
Into the vase
With a devout[虔誠的] prayer:
“May my life also unfold In radiance and in beauty.”
I return the flowers
To a corner of the hearth[
Knowing I am ready, now, For what the day may bring.
