China’s Energy Security under New International Situation

Oil embargo on Iran has lasted for several months and the U.S. is planning to impose sanctions against the countries that import oil from Iran， including China. At present， profound changes are taking place in the field of world energy. A significant reduction of oil imports will threat China’s energy security and it’s urgent for China to take the initiative to adapt to the new world energy situation.

New Round of Integration of China’s Rare-earth Industry

A new round of integration of China’s rare-earth industry is coming. MIIT announced on March 12th that the rare earth companies， which experienced fierce competition， will be consolidated to form two or three large enterprises. The United States， Europe and Japan have joined forces to challenge China's restrictions on exports of rare-earth metals， escalating a trade row over access to some of the most important raw materials used in advanced technologies.

France to Turn Left or Turn Right?

France’s presidential election will be held in two months. Campaign launched by the main rivals， Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy， shows the contest and confrontation between the left-wing and right-wing. Result of the presidential election is considered by some experts as a sign of the future direction of the French political and social development.

China to Promote Market-led Growth

Some analysts said that China is facing a downward trend in its economic growth as some key indexes including PMI dropped in March， 2012. To some extent， it is a result of the macro-control. How to boom the market-led investment and the private consumption will be policy priorities in near future.
