5月8日，歐洲企業社會責任協會與全球營養改善聯盟（Gain）共同組織了一場高端午餐會議。歐盟委員會成員Louis Michel和“金字塔底層的可持續發展實驗室”的負責人參與了此次會議。會議的目的在于分享各方在創新發展模式上的經驗。

沃達豐發表聲明承諾減少50%二氧化碳排放量

沃達豐公開宣布到2020年，將在2006-2007排放123萬公噸的基礎上減少50%的二氧化碳排放量。這一目標的實現將主要依靠其在能源有效利用方面的改進以及可再生能源使用率的增大。

巴斯夫宣布將擴大生物降解塑料的生產

巴斯夫歐洲公司宣布計劃擴大其位于路德維希港的生物降解塑料生產廠的規模。此項擴大將提升Ecoflex產品（石油化工基塑料）的生產能力，從現在的每年生產14,000公噸提高到60,000公噸。

High Level Meeting with EU Aid Commissioner and leaders of the BOP Laboratory

On 8 May, CSR Europe and Gain (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) coorganised a High Level Lunch Meeting with European Commissioner Louis Michel and company leaders of the Laboratory on Sustainable Business at the Base of the Pyramid. The objective of the meeting was to share experience on innovative development models and explore opportunities for engagement between the private sector and the European Union.

Vodafone Group announces commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 50%

Vodafone Group has announced that by 2020 it will reduce its CO2 emissions by 50% against its 2006/7 baseline of 1.23 million tonnes. This target will be achieved principally by improvements in energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy.

BASF announces major bioplastics production expansion

BASF SE has announced plans for a significant expansion of its production plant for the biodegradable plastic Ecoflext at the company's Ludwigshafen site. The move will raise Ecoflex production capacities from the current 14,000 by 60,000 metric tons per year.

Carbon Disclosure Project and IBM launch carbon management research

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and IBM have announced a joint research project to provide new insight into current corporate practices in carbon management and how companies manage carbon information, regulation and reporting.

KPMG report says six industry sectors should be on alert over climate change risks

According to a new KPMG report entitled "Climate Changes Your Business" Aviation, healthcare, tourism, transport, oil and gas and the financial services sector all feature in the "danger zone"meaning that they score highly on the risks which face them yet score poorly in terms of their preparedness to face these risks.

IBM announces new energy-management software to measure green IT progress

IBM has announced new energy-management software to help clients establish energy efficiency goals and measure and verify their green IT progress. The software allows IT managers to control their energy use for servers, storage, and networking as well as the air conditioning and power management systems that keep the data center running.

17 schools in Moscow launch Cisco Network Academy courses to address IT skills gap

Seventeen high schools in Moscow are updating their IT curriculum to include an IT Fundamentals course that is part of the Cisco? Network Academy programme. According to IDC, in Russia the networking skills gap in 2008 year may reach 60,000 specialists.

President Bush recognizes Deloitte's commitment to skills-based volunteerism

In a speech on 29 April at the White House to celebrate the National Volunteer Week, President George W. Bush recognized Deloitte for its leadership and commitment to workplace volunteering. Through a robust skills-based volunteerism and pro bono programme, Deloitte encourages its employees to use their business skills and knowledge to make significant and lasting contributions to nonprofit organisations.

Half of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. suppliers have missed the February 1 deadline for completing the retailer's Sustainable Packaging Scorecard, an evaluation of nine metrics including package-to-product ratio, recycled content and transportation requirements. The scorecard will be used as a decision-making tool to favor certain suppliers, and presumably drop those suppliers with insufficient scores.

Shell Backs Out of World's Biggest Wind Farm

Just two days after posting a 25-percent increase in first-quarter profits, Royal Dutch Shell plc announced its plan to sell its share of the world's largest offshore wind farm -a project 60 miles outside London that would include 341 turbines. The proposed development would generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity, or enough to power a quarter of the homes in greater London.
