話說“中國特色社會主義”之英譯

英文詞典如此定義“中國特色社會主義”：

Socialism with Chinese characteristics， meaning socialism adapted to Chinese conditions， is the official ideology of the Communist Party of China， claimed to be based upon scientific socialism. This ideology supports the creation of a socialist market economy dominated by the public sector since China is in the primary stage of socialism.

閱讀英文電子版《習(xí)近平談治國理政》時，筆者經(jīng)過統(tǒng)計發(fā)現(xiàn)，全書有99處使用socialism with Chinese characteristics，47處使用Chinese socialism，2處使用Chinas socialism。在政治文獻中，第一個為官方推薦使用的標準英文表述，而后兩個只是根據(jù)使用場合、語用目的所采取的變通表述。

1.原文：堅持和發(fā)展中國特色社會主義

譯文：uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics

2.原文：中國特色社會主義道路，是實現(xiàn)我國社會主義現(xiàn)代化的必由之路。

譯文：The path of Chinese socialism is the only way to achieve Chinas socialist modernization.

3.原文：奪取中國特色社會主義的新勝利

譯文：achieve new victories for Chinas socialism

從語言形式考察，政治文獻中能夠開始使用后兩種表述，本身就說明，英文譯者對于語言的理解更加深入和透徹了。socialism單獨使用，自然指“社會主義”，一旦加上形容詞Chinese或所有格Chinas，其義也自然縮小，意謂“中國的社會主義”。在“社會主義”的康莊大道上，“中國”已至，“特色”寧尚遙迢兮？

“社會主義”在我國的實踐，“中國特色社會主義”的提出，一再反駁了丘吉爾關(guān)于社會主義的謬論：Socialism is a philosophy of failure， the creed of ignorance， and the gospel of envy， its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

作為社會主義國家的一分子，我們還是深信馬克思的至理名言：Demo-cracy is the road to socialism. 中國特色社會主義自然也不例外。? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?□
