There are too many factors contributing to the prosperity of Liuzhou industry： Liuzhou owns delicious prepackaged snail rice noodles and many famous companies， including Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group Company Limited， Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co.， Ltd.， SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile， Liuzhou LMZ Co.， Ltd.， Golden Throat Holding Group Company Limited， Huahong Pharmaceutical， etc.; People in Liuzhou are confident， innovative， positive and diligent.

As the first urban new area with the theme of “ecology” in Guangxi， Liuzhou Northern Ecological New District （hereinafter referred to as “Northern Ecological New District”） carries Liuzhou and even Guangxis dream of building ecological new cities， from which we can view the industrial upgrade and the development blueprint of Liuzhou.

Liuzhou Northern Ecological New District born at the right moment

Liuzhou Northern Ecological New District was prepared for construction in November 2016 and was listed for establishment on June 28， 2017. “In 2016， the downward pressure of the economy increased. It was imperative to optimize and adjust the industrial structure and upgrade the industry. Under the circumstance， the Northern Ecological New District came into being，” Jin Yu， member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of the Northern Ecological New District， said in the interview， “As an important part of the urban development of Liuzhou with one central urban district and three new districts （main urban district， Liudong New District， Liujiang New District， and Northern Ecological New District）， the Northern Ecological New District is endowed with a high strategic orientation. It will focus on the cultivation of intelligent and green industrial systems， to make itself a New Urbanization Development Demonstration Zone， Guangxi Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park， National Economic and Technological Development Zone and National Ecological New District.”

At present， the Northern Ecological New District is strengthening infrastructure construction， continuously improving the level of urban-rural integration， optimizing and upgrading the urban development pattern of one central urban district and three new districts， emphasizing the construction of the wetland park， road network， industrial parks and other projects， constantly improving services， and fully accelerating the construction of the new district.

In the interview， Jin Yu specially mentioned that the first phase of Guangxi industrial design city， with a total construction area of 952，000 square meters and a total investment of RMB 4.7 billion yuan， is under construction now， and is expected to be completed in 2021. The project mainly constructs headquarters， service centers， laboratories， incubators， designer apartments， hotels and commercial auxiliary facilitis.

In addition， the construction of smart grid standard plants， with a total land area of 318 mu， a total construction area of 252，000 square meters and a total investment of about RMB 850 million yuan， has started and is expected to be completed in 2020; The construction of factories， covering an area of about 90 mu under the semi-solid die-casting aluminum alloy formwork project of Guangxi Boruien Medal Technology Co.， Ltd. has almost been completed in only two months， and is expected to be put into production in half a year; The first phase of Liuzhou big data industrial park and entrepreneurial park （robot standard workshop） are also expected to be completed in 2020. All this reflects the “Liuzhou speed” which promotes the development of the real economy.

Building a new city featuring ecology and wisdom

“The Northern Ecological New District is the first one in Guangxi. It is an important area bearing the development hope of Liuzhou in the next 10 years.” In the second year of the construction of the Northern Ecological New District， Zheng Junkang， Secretary of the CPC Liuzhou Municipal Committee， placed high hopes on the development of the ecological new district.

Now， the infrastructure construction of the Northern Ecological New District has achieved initial results. The “ecology” and “industrial design” of Guangxi industrial design city are of great concern. Focusing on these key contents， the Northern Ecological New District has made a clear plan： building a Guangxi industrial design city with strong scientific and technological innovation， and high integration of ecology， production and cities.

The Northern Ecological New District is rich in natural resources and high in forest coverage. Therefore， “ecology” is an important objective for its development.

When it comes to “ecology”， we have to mention the wetland park. It is said that it will be built into a national level wetland park with the theme of “bamboo culture” and highlight the characteristics of colorful flowers which reflect the diversity of the ecological environment， so that people and factories in the Northern Ecological New District are surrounded by the beautiful scenery.

In addition to “ecology”， “wisdom” is another key word of the Northern Ecological New District. According to Jin Yu， the Northern Ecological New District will follow the development connotation of “intelligence and ecology”， focus on the cultivation and development of six strategic emerging industries， guide the development of modern service industries and lead the ecological new district to form an intelligent and green high-end industrial cluster.

As for the future development of the Northern Ecological New District， Jin Yu said， “the Northern Ecological New District is committed to building itself into a reform and innovation pilot zone with the integration of production and cities， a new urbanization demonstration zone and a smart city featuring urban-rural interaction， ecology and leisure. In the future， the Northern Ecological New District will strive to build a cross-border smart park with the integration of production and cities， and comprehensively improve the function and image of the park. Being ecological and environmental-friendly， the park can serve Liuzhou， Guangxi and even the whole ASEAN better.”

Contributing to industrial design innovation

“Innovation” is an inexhaustible driver for the development and progress of the times. China and most ASEAN countries are developing countries. Both China and ASEAN regard innovation as an important means to promote sustainable economic and social development. For Liuzhou， a major industrial city， the layout of industrial design and innovation industry development is increasingly clear， thus， design innovation promoting industrial upgrading just like splitting the bamboo — without difficulty. Moreover， Liuzhou has established good international trade cooperation with ASEAN countries in heavy industries such as automobiles and construction machinery.

The China-ASEAN Industrial Design and Innovation Forum， which has been held in Liuzhou since 2018， provides a practical platform for both sides to learn from each other， to develop together and to deepen cooperation and exchange in industrial design and innovation. Through China-ASEAN Industrial Design and Innovation Forum， Liuzhou will form a cooperation platform facing ASEAN with distinctive characteristics.

As an important organizer of the China-ASEAN Industrial Design and Innovation Forum， Liuzhou Northern Ecological New District aims to attract design institutions， innovative enterprises and talents， gather the centripetal force of design innovation for Liuzhou， and contribute wisdom to the development of Liuzhou， so as to better make innovative design promote industrial transformation and upgrading， and let traditional industrial cities glow with vitality. In this regard， Jin Yu said that in this year， the Northern Ecological New District will construct LKKER Design Institute. After completion， it will move to the Northern Ecological New District as an independent college， providing professional talents for industrial design innovation.

Liuzhou， a century-old industrial city， has never stopped exploring on the road of innovation and development. In order to speed up the transformation of industrial design achievements， promote the development of industrial design industry and better serve the industrial transformation and upgrading， Liuzhou will hold the 3rd China-ASEAN Industrial Design and Innovation Forum in August. The first China-ASEAN Industrial Design Exhibition and the first China-ASEAN Industrial Design Competition of the “Golden Bauhinia Cup” will be held at the same time. Through “one meeting， one exhibition and one competition”， Liuzhou will build a bridge of deep integration of industrial design and intelligent manufacturing.

The construction of this “bridge” is the expectation of all and the necessity of the times. Although the outbreak of the novel coronavirus since January 2020 has produced a great impact on all walks of life， a wave of construction will be launched across the country after the outbreak. On the way of future development， “wisdom” and “ecology” are critical in Liuzhous industrial upgrading and development， and will make this land continue to burst out new vitality.
