English writing problems of Chinese Students and Suggestions

【Abstract】Writing is important for us. It is necessary to learn English well. But in fact， we have many problems in our writing， which can limit our ability to express ourselves clearly. So this paper talk about English writing problems of Chinese Students and make some suggestions

1. Writing problems of Chinese Students

As a student said：First， its the diction. When I am writing， most time I dont know which words I can use. Sometimes， I even dont know the suitable words. Second， its the structure. I often make some mistakes on writing. Such as， redundancy， run-on sentences， sentence fragments and so on. There are so many problems in a sentence. Moreover， I cant use some words to make my article wonderful， which means that I dont have new content in my writing and my article is gray. So others are not ache to read it. I think it is terrible. At last， I always have collocation mistakes.

2. Suggestions

We should pay much more attention for the vocabulary， the vocabulary is important to help you to express your idea of your passage. You can't image that you don't have enough words for you to express your idea in your passage. First you have to read as possible as you can， which will increase your word-base. If there are some new words or other beautiful words， you have to remember them soon， but doing like this is not enough for improve your writing. Using them in your practice of writing can help you remember these words， but knowing how to use them in the future. Word is the blood of an essay， increasing vocabulary like getting more new blood which will make your essay more active.it is the basic for you to improve your writing. If you can't know enough words， you would not writing a good article. The first step of writing is also the most difficult for most of English writers.

The second thing we should remember is concentrate on the main point before your writing. When you begin to write an essay， you have to get the structure in your mind. What and how you will write is center of your writing process. Only do know what and how you will write， you can write your passage smoothly. There is an old saying called have a well-thought-out plan which means that before doing you have a well-thought-out plan in your mind. Having a well -thought -out plan can make your essay have clear level. Readers can easily find your main idea and know the idea of every paragraph， using your language to express something about what you want to talk to others. Writing is so complex that you should know every part of your essay. You should learn something about how we can write a good sentence even a good paragraph.endprint

The reason why students write compositions in English just according to the Chinese meaning word by word is that they dont really know about the sentence types. So in the first step， the five basic sentence types are listed in a table on the screen and I ask the students to give the examples. The simple sentences can be changed into complex ones by adding something to expand the sentence. So then well play a game. Id like them to change their simple sentences into complex ones. By doing this game， Ss will have learned how to write the correct complex sentences according to the sentence patterns. A paragraph must have a topic sentence.

Learning writing paragraph is a huge step as the structure of the building. From the paragraph writing we can learn the whole passage's writing， paragraph is like a short passage. In the last paragraph， you should retell the main idea and the thoughts of the article and summarize your points and suggest in which your conclusion can be thought of in a large sense. The readers can easily to get what you want to tell by reading the first and the last paragraphs. Students can improve their English writing skills by these methods I have told.

Remembering these methods does not mean that you will write an article well surely. It is an essential principle that we must combine theory with practice. Writers who are famous all over the world have wrote a lot of works even they are good at writing. If you know how to write an article well， you should put these theories into your writing practice. Since you do it yourself， you can know what you have not done defectively， and then you should find out the way to solve your problems.In a word you should remember that writing is a practical activity， doing much writing can make English writing easily.

3. Conclusions

It is obviously to get your English writing improved. Remembering new words， getting structure before writing， writing sentence and paragraph correctly， reading others' article are needful when you want to write some thing.
