A Survey and Study of the Interaction on Language and Culture

【Abstract】The most important feature that differentiates human beings from animals is that humans have great intelligence.Because of their remarkable achievements，colorful human cultures come into being.Language and culture，the most beautiful crystallization of human wisdom creates many wonders of human society，and then it enriches and builds the human society.The relationship between language and culture is one of the main issues for humanities in the 21st century，and the interaction between them attracts us deeply.From the most objective view，this paper will expound the interaction between language and culture with the most common and precise language，to summarize the simplest and the most complex problem in the history of humanity------language and culture.

I.Introduction

Language and culture are closely related to and dependant on each other throughout their history.The native language is acquired along with the ways，attitudes and patterns of behaving of the social group，and these ways，attitudes and behaving patterns find their expression through language.In the way，language is an inseparable of integral part of culture，and the medium through which culture is acquired.Recent research has revealed that language is also closely related to cognition and the cognition of the world is in turn related to the cultural settings.Consequently，it is believed that the process of child language acquisition is also the process of his cognition and understanding of the world and the process of the development of his cultural competence.

This paper is just about the relationship between language and culture.We will discuss the background of language and culture，the interaction between them，and the immediate significance when they interact on each other.We know that，the relationship between language and culture is one of the most important topics in the linguistic field.So I want use the most objective thought to describe the problem，and then I hope people who read this thesis will understand the relationship clearly and deeply.

II.The relationship between language and culture

Culture is complex concept，and it was born with human beings.Language is the tool for human being communication，also it is an important culture appearance culturology research about language.Language of human being，as the connect system for human being exchange culture.All the culture and all the civilization depend on symbol，no symbol so no culture.Human is just a kind of animal，and not human.Language，which have clear syllable is the most important shape to express symbol.I can't imagine if we don't have language，and who can say，"What is culture？" Human being keeps their experience with language，and passes no from generation to generation.Just this kind of language passes on from generation to generation，so human being's culture can carry toward the cause and forget ahead in to the future.

The relationship of language and culture is very close，both of them，study acquired，and use to transmits valves beliefs，perception and norms.That they are in harmony，language is the foundation of culture's birth and developing，and the developing of culture makes language richer and meticulous.They work in coordination to bring into play function.It makes human being experience and world concept depend on each other.That is properly of mutual of them.You can see the analysis about language，culture and the harmony of them in the front parts.How we will talk the property of mutually between them.

On the one hand，language infiltrates in human being cultures producing and developing，and the till pass on human being culture.First，if we don't have language，human being culture won't come into being.Any kinds animals each other individual need linking up.And linking up is pass on information to influence another individual.Second，the function of language is not only expressing culture，it can make individual human being stay in the order of natural environment and social environment （human being culture）.Third，language structure often reflect culture theme.In the entire culture social the vocabulary of language are all-straight to the most important arrangement of idea to develop.

On the other hand，culture is the spring of language.Culture restrict the whole field of language and the process of its developing.First，culture choose language，culture teach people named those practical and important things.That makes people learn to name all the things around them.Second，it is culture that leads to different interpretations and reaction to language.Third，people study and use language in different culture background.Because people study language and understand the meaning of language have direct relationship with their experience.At last，the content and form of human being thought reflect language function which use by human being，and language that control by human being reflect the function of human being's thought content and form.Thought and language expressing they all reflect the function of language.

III.The immediate significance of the interaction between language and culture

In my opinion，may be it has three functions.The first is the function of culturology；the second is the function of linguistics；the third is the function of society.As for the first and the second we have mentioned them above.Now，we just want to discuss the function of society.

Some people think linguistic unanimity is good for peace and unity of all the nations in the world.However，it is risk for culture.Like language，culture has characteristics of singles，and they works against each other，but singles is a natural selection for culture.On the other hand，culture is diversified，which means an objective selection for human living and happiness.

IV.Conclusion

From the thesis，we know that，there are close relationships between language and culture interact and influence each other.One hand，language is an important component of human being's culcure，and also is the form and method of human being's culture to build and transmit.The other hand，culture has rusticity intention and deucedly influence to language for all the time.All in all we must notice that language and culture are not opposites but unified.
