Why language is unique to human beings

Abstract：There are some well-known theories about the origin of the language. The origin of the language is very mysterious. The theory of language origin can be divided into two hypotheses： continuity and discontinuity. The basic idea of the continuity hypothesis is that the language cant be suddenly formed， there must be a process from the human ancestors of the early evolution of the language system. The discontinuous hypothesis holds that language has some unique characteristics which come across in a certain period of time and relates to the human gene evolution and mutation. However， What I want to prove is neither of them， I prefer the religious views. In this thesis， I mainly talk about two aspects. Bible records the original history of human society， therefore， Id like to find the answer of the origin of language from the Bible.

Introduction： If we want to study the existence of language and wonder when it started， this is， of course， we are ought to come back to the beginning of human society， and what the earliest records of human history is only the "Bible". So， obviously， the study of language is supposed to begin with the Bible.

Language only belongs to human beings， as far as I am concerned， the main performances are lay in two aspects. First， only humans have language， animals do not. The second acpect is the diversity of human language. Let me explain my personal point of view.

1. Language only belongs to human beings

At the time of creation， the old testament records "God said， let us make man in our own image， in the likeness of ourselves， ..."So God formed man according to his own portrait， is： according to the image of God， and he made a man and a woman. In addition to this， the chapter 17， section 3 of the German training chapter also added， "God according to his own nature， gave him the power of God."Gospel of John chapter 1， section 1-2 also speaks "In the beginning was the word， and the word was with God， and the word was God. The holy word had with God in the beginning."Yes， God is able to speak， all things in the world are his words created. In the same way， he created us， by the way of words and gives us his portrait， the portrait is not to the animals， except to the human， and this portrait is not only the appearance， but also includes the spirit and soul. Thus， we human beings were blessed with the language. God communicates with our ancestor Adam and other grandparents directly in speech. He also has a walk chat with Adam in the garden of Eden. The most honorable in the world is only humans， for only humans have Gods portrait， only humans have the language of God and the ability to record the language， Which can make from generation to generation， ， so as not to dissolve.

2. The multilinguals of human language

Recorded in genesis chapter 11 in the first quarter “And the whole earth was of one language， and of one speech.”However， according to scientific statistics， there are more than 5000 languages all over the world nowadays. The Bible also answers this phenomenon for us， which is recorded in the Genesis from chapter 1 to chapter 11， the probable plots are as follows. When Adam and Eve was expelled from the garden of Eden for their crime， their descendants continued to corrupt. Therefore， God used flood to destroy the world， only Noahs family survived. But Noahs descendants also degenerated， when more of them get together， wanted to unite to build a Babel tower， and let the tower of Babel declare their name in the world， also made it as the markers， trying to avoid the dispersion of human race. So God confused their language， so that they could not communicate and plan for the matter. As a result， humans have scattered on the ground， and they gathered and formed as a nation according to their different languages.

Why God chaos language？ In fact， is to make people humble. Because when humans have the same language， it is easy to form a unified thought， unified coordinates， easy to form a centralized reign. Human beings need to learn from difference， not to go in accordance with the unified thought. When human language each is not identical， there will be different communications， people will try to have equal exchanges with each other. Language is an emotional expression tool for human to understand each other. It is a reaction of humility， but also a respect for nature and God. If there is only one language， humans will become more and more proud， or self-centered.

Language， is unique to humans， let us constantly to find its beauty.
