Shirobako has to be one of the biggest surprises for me recently, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only viewer with this kind of satisfaction[滿意]. The original anime is like a little white box of mysteries[神秘的事物] that helps me learn more about my beloved industry each and every week.
In a high school’s animation[動畫] club, five young girls try to create their own animation; their skills cover the majority of departments[部門] that make up a studio—acting, animating, mixing and writing. They vow[發誓] to see each other in the industry. Fast forward a few years and we meet up with Aoi, bleary-eyed[睡眼惺忪的], driving the latest cels注 for Musashino Animation in the dead of night. From the start, we are taken from the safe and secure world of the school club into the harshness[嚴峻的] and exhaustion[筋疲力盡的] of the professional circuit[圈子]. There’s no magic or illogical[不合邏輯的] plot devices[手段]. It’s all real-life situations and the prospect[景色] of adulthood.
There have been quite a few slice-of-life[反映現實生活的] shows these days. This time however, P.A.Works presents an anime about making an anime. Although Shirobako is not the only show talking about the topic, It’s probably the most detailed, realistic[現實的] and charming[迷人的] that I have personally seen. The crew[工作人員] of Musashino are a diverse[多種多樣的] bunch[群]. Some are eccentric[古怪的], some are supremely[極度] professional, and others are just plain odd. It makes you aspire to work for such a company; you know everyone there, and want them to succeed as a team. That’s probably what P.A.Works has succeeded at themselves.
If you wish to know about how your favourite anime is made from the ground up[從頭開始]—warning: without any sugar coating—and the hardships behind it, you’ll enjoy Shirobako and gain an appreciation[欣賞] for the hard work that goes into it. You can sense their passion[熱情] and dedication[奉獻], because the whole staff is essentially[本質上] telling their own story about their lives in the industry. Shirobako really shines because the people making the show are doing what they love, and truly loving what they do.
