CCS Issued New COMPASS CSR Software

HCSR will take effect on July 1st, 2015,compared with CSR for bulk carriers and tankers, IACS HCSR has harmonized the requirements for the load, longitudinal strength of hull beam, local strength, finite element analysis method,fatigue strength and buckling strength for bulk carriers and tankers, and has added residual strength and structural redundancy analysis in accordance with IMO GBS.

The workload involved in evaluation scope, working condition calculation and evaluation node will increase by multiples. CCS has set up a specialized CSR research professional team, and introduced CSR COMPASS software in time.

COMPASS CSR is the rule calculation software developed independently by CCS with independent intellectual property rights. It includes two modules of SDP and DSA.

This software is an upgraded version of the fi rst edition of COMPASS CSR which was successfully launched in July 1, 2012. In January 2015, the International Association of Classi fi cation Societies (IACS) issued two versions of rule change (Rule Change Notice and Urgent Change Rule 1),and updated CSR for a second time. CCS updated without delay COMPASS CSR software, improving greatly the ef fi ciency and stability of the software and further saving the time of CSR ship type design and assessment.In terms of DSA, the new version software modified loading ways of the load calculation, not only having improved stability, but also the ef fi ciency by more than 2 times; In addition, the ef fi ciency of the cabin unit method automatic identification and sub-model has increased by about 7 to 8 times.

In terms of SDP, the new version of the software adopts a variety of components being classi fi ed by colors for the former, post-processing cloud image display to make the effect more clearly and friendly, enabling customers to check more conveniently the model. It is more intuitive and practical and can automatically generate various calculation reports.

In terms of data security, the upgraded software provides backup at fixed times and the function of modal restore,which not only makes it convenient for user management but also improves the security of data.

With the coming into force of IACS HCSR on July 1st, 2015, domestic design institutes and the shipyards will face in reality CSR bulk carrier and tanker design and construction. By that time, CCS COMPASS CSR software will be widely put into use in ship structure design research, ship type development, plan approval and inspection, ship operation management and other areas.
