The London Olympics Closing Ceremony was held on Aug. 12, 2012. It was titled “A Symphony of British Music” in order to celebrate British music over the last 50 years. However, the famous British singing star Robbie Williams didn’t show up.
Robbie had been scheduled to perform several popular songs during the finale, but he quitted just a few weeks before the ceremony, because the date clashes with his pregnant wife’s due date.
Some people were unhappy at his behavior—
■It is such a great moment for British music and we should have the perfect line-up. Robbie’s quit meant organizers had to adjust the entire schedule.
■Robbie is one of this country’s greatest ever singers, he should represent us on this significant stage.
■Robbie could have said no to the ceremony at the very start. Why did he say there was an unfortunate clash of dates after the rehearsals were starting? He disappointed us.
On the other hand, there were many people understanding his choice—
■Of course it’s the right decision for him. Wife and baby come first! Robbie can sing everywhere.
■Obviously, Robbie has to put his family commitments first. It’s just a shame he didn’t realize earlier.
