巖土工程類科技論文英文摘要常見問題的探討

巖土工程類科技論文英文摘要常見問題的探討

收集有關巖土工程期刊與工程類期刊上發表的論文,發現該類科技期刊論文的英文摘要常出現一些錯用、誤用的現象,并實例進行剖析,結合Ei目前收錄的標準,給出修改建議。

巖土工程類期刊;英文摘要;錯誤實例

目前,國內外有關巖土力學與巖土工程的期刊較多,它們報道了巖土力學與巖土工程發展前沿,發揮了窗口作用,為我國重大工程建設做出了很大的貢獻。很多研究人員認為,一份好的期刊不但要在學術質量上精益求精,更要在編輯質量上下功夫,減少編輯差錯,增強文章可讀性。據此,筆者研究重點是減少巖土力學與工程類期刊英文摘要的錯誤,找出其共性問題,并提出修改建議為避免類似錯誤提供一定參考。

國家標準《文摘編寫規則》(GB6447-86)對摘要下的定義為“以提供文獻內容梗概為目的,不加評論和補充解釋,簡明、確切地記述文獻重要內容的短文”,因此摘要應具有獨立性和自明性,并擁有與一次文獻同等量的重要信息,即不需閱讀全文就能獲得必要的信息。而英文摘要作為中文摘要的外語語種翻譯,同樣也是科技論文的重要組成部分,起到知識傳播、學術交流與合作的橋梁和紐帶作用。尤其是目前國際上各主要檢索機構的數據庫對英文摘要的依賴性很強,因此作者在論文撰寫的時候,應該充分重視英文摘要的寫作。如果有條件可聘請國內外知名專家對該部分進行修飾,以減少中國式英文的弊端。

研究科技論文摘要的論文較多,徐艷[1]就科技論文中的英文摘要寫作問題進行一些研究,得出一些有益的結論;歐麗和胡浩[2]就科技論文英文摘要的寫作方法以及摘要的分類做了系統論述;雷麗紅和周源[3]就醫學論文英文摘要的寫作技巧進行論述;韋瑤瑜,雷蕾[4]就生物醫學英文摘要中第一人稱使用及其相關問題進行研究,給出一定的啟發。張志鈺等[5]就農業科技論文英文摘要常見問題進行剖析,對促進農業學科的英文摘要發展起到較大的補充。李學軍,馬曉耕[6]對地學論文英文摘要常見的表達不精煉問題進行研究。另外,任勝利[7]就英文科技論文的撰寫與投稿方面做了大量的工作,對于啟發作者撰寫高質量的論文起到較大的作用。但是到目前為止,還鮮見巖土工程期刊與工程類論文的英文摘要寫作辦法,有必要進行探討。

一、英文摘要的目的

根據內容的不同,摘要可分為以下三大類:報道性摘要、指示性摘要和報道–指示性摘要。文摘的種類(Type of Abstracts)按美國工程信息公司編輯部(Ei編輯部)的分類,文摘分為指示性文摘與信息性文摘,或者兩者結合的文摘。信息性文摘一般包括了原始文獻某些重要內容的梗概,主要由以下三部分組成。

第一,目的:主要說明作者寫此文章的目的,或說本文主要解決的問題。

第二,過程及方法:主要說明作者主要工作過程及所用的方法,也包括眾多的邊界條件,使用的主要設備和儀器。

第三,結果:作者在此工作過程最后得到的結果和結論,如有可能,盡量介紹作者所得結果和結論的應用范圍和應用情況。

科技期刊的摘要,應該避免出現一些不必要的語法錯誤,建議在編輯的時候,采取三道把關措施,即英文編輯、審讀以及檢查,以避免出現類似錯誤。目前,筆者瀏覽了巖土工程期刊與工程領域的SCI以及EI收錄期刊2007—2010年度部分文章,審讀結果后認為其英文水平總體上較好,但也存在一些問題,尤其是在英文摘要、英文題目、圖表以及關鍵詞中發現問題較多。其中,英文摘要出錯的文章不少,希望能引起科技工作者和編輯們的注意。

二、英文摘要常見問題

(一)動詞、名詞單復數錯誤

1.動詞單復數語法錯誤

(1)A new set of DDEs and SDEs is developed which incorporate model III loading.(International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2001,38:1121-1134)

這里的incorporate應該為單數形式,和前面對應。

(2)The results of tests indicates that a hyper2 bolic model and a flexible-linear hardening model can reasonably simulate the stress-strain relations under unaxial and triaxial conditions respectively.

這里存在兩處錯:indicates和前面的主語不搭配,后面的respectively是多余的或前面加“,”。

(3)The finding of this study were that uniaxi2 al compressive strengths of single and multi frac2 tured samples are reduced by 40%and 60%of the compressive strength of intact rock,respectively. (International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Min2 ing Sciences,2004,41:361)

這里存在一處錯:were和前面的主語不搭配,應該改為is。

2.名詞單復數語法錯誤

(1)Stress-strain curves of soils with differ2 ent age.

這里的齡期age應該為復數形式,改為ages較好。

(2)The dynamic safety factor determined with this method varies with time,which differenti2 ate it from the results of the limit equilibrium method or the finite element method.(Internation2 al Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2001,38:1081-1090)

這里存在兩處不足:differentiate和前面的主語不搭配,后面的兩個the是多余的。

(3)The stress,displacement and pore pres2 sure is slightly decreased with the increase of tem2 perature increment.

這里的is和前面的主語不搭配,應該改為are。

(4)Electric transmission line inevitably trans2 verse high intensity seismic region,and semi-ac2 tion can not be neglected.

transverse應該改為transverses。

(5)Soil strength in the surface zones usually be strongly attenuated by the alternately wetting and drying,expansive and shrinking.

句中的be應該改為is或was。

(6)Otherwise,the radius of pipeline only in2 fluence the accumulative pore water pressure ratios of sandy seabed nearby the pipeline.(《巖石力學與工程學報》2008(6).)

Influence改為influences。

(7)This study has a useful reference to the theoretical and applied research in the field of wa2 ter-rock interaction.(《巖石力學與工程學報》2009 (1).)

research改為researches

(8)The courses of dynamic construction of multiple-arch tunnels with eight traffic lanes and surrounding rocks of class IV and V are simulated. (《巖石力學與工程學報》2009,28(1).)

class改為classes或grades。

(9)Research on application of node partition method to urban groundwater modeling.(《巖石力學與工程學報》2009,28(1).)

partition應該為partitioning。此文中的關鍵詞也有錯誤,“節點剖分法”應該為node partitioning method。

(二)被動語態使用錯誤

(1)Some dynamic characteristics such as shear modulus,damping,strength,pore water pres2 sure and liquefaction are studies by dynamic triaxi2 al tests on saturated compacted loess under differ2 ent consolidation stress conditions.

文中的studies應該改為studied。

(2)Studies on electrical resistivity of remold expansive soils.

這里的remold應改為remolded。

(3)This relationship applies to both shear fracture and cleavage fracture,which can be ap2 proximated by the following equation.(Journal of Rock Mechanics andGeotechnicalEngineering, 2009,1(1):1-10.)

applies應該改為is applied。

(三)介詞有誤用

(1)The so called state-dependent dilatancy theory was suggested and applied in sand model2 ing.

句子里面的in應該改為to。

(2)Solidifying saline soil in inshore with dif2 ferent quantities of salt using line,which causes microstructure indices and strength of saline soil to change obviously and increase greatly.

這里漏掉了介詞to。

(3)At the meantime,cumulative plastic strain will develop.

這里的At the meantime宜改為At the same time或者是In the meantime。

(4)An hyperbolic function was proposed as a load transfer function to analyze the load transfer mechanism of a single pile.

這里An應改為A。

(5)Mechanical analysis for non-planar rein2 forced concrete frame beam and shear-wall joint.

這里for宜改為of。

(四)句子搭配問題

(1)Experimental study on polypropylene fiber improving soft soils.

建議改為:Experimental study on improve2 ment of soft soils with polypropylene fiber.

(2)Research on application of node partition method to urban groundwater modeling.(《巖石力學與工程學報》2009,28(1):47-52.)

建議改為:Applicationresearch onurban groundwatermodelingwithnodepartitioning method.

(五)單詞拼寫錯誤

(1)Comparson between the computed results of 3DEC and those of this method shows that the present method is suitable for the stability analysis of the sliding surface developing opposite to the slope direction.

Comparson改為Comparison。

(2)Based on the relations between coefficient of coulomb’s active earth pressure and internal friction angle,grading angle,slope angle,the rules between of coulomb’s active earth pressure and different parameters were analyzed.

coulomb’s改為Coulomb’s。

(3)This paper is a summary of mettpds,anal2 ysis and evaluation of water resources and hydro2 power projects under complicated geographic and geologic conditions.

mettpds改為methods。

(4)Reflection of elastic waves at fliud/fliud saturated poroelastic solid interface.(《某期刊》2007,28(8):1595-1599.)

fliud/fliud是fluid的誤寫。

(5)At very high stain rate the material frag2 ments after fracturing are very small due to the simultaneous initiation of damage throughout the solid volume.(Journal ofRock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering,2009,1(1):1-10.)

stain應該為strain,單詞的錯誤用法。

(六)混合型錯誤

混合型錯誤是一句話出現2處(含)以上錯誤,現列舉如下:

(1)Vibration amplification is not appeared be2 cause the rains speed far less than the Ralyeigh wave velocity of the ground.

Appear是不及物動詞,不宜給出被動語態,建議改為found。Ralyeigh是單詞的誤拼,應該是Rayleigh。

(2)Comparison among the computed results of elastic moduli under different poisson’s rations.

句中poisson為人名,應該改為 Poisson;ra2 tions是單詞的錯誤用法,應該改為ratios。

(3)Meanwhile the authors proposed the way dealt with the structured soils through investiga2 ting the properties of soil fabric and bonding be2 tween soil granulae.

granulae是granulas的誤寫;deal with改為to deal with。

(4)A combined geomechanical model test sys2 tem and its application in a bifurcation tunnel pro2 ject.

這里有兩處誤用,一是介詞in宜改為to;二是分岔隧道宜改為diversion tunnel。

(七)縮寫字母的不確定性

(1)Coupled hydro-mechanical model and FEM analyses for dual-porosity media.

FEM指代不明確,且使用錯誤,應該是finite element(FE)。

(2)Application of PIV in large-scale shaking table model tests.

PIV指代不明確,應該說出是particle image velocimetry(PIV,粒子成像測速儀)的簡寫;另外。介詞in應該改為to。

三、結論

鑒于目前巖土類期刊較多,且大部分期刊的英文摘要和英文主題詞均較好,應該給予充分肯定。但是作者在行書過程中還是出現一些不足,有些是常用語法的錯誤,甚至是拼寫錯誤。建議在針對拼寫錯誤的時候,啟用Word自身所帶的拼寫檢查功能,修改拼寫錯誤。對于有些拿不準的語法或者是專業術語,作者應該多查相關的專業詞典或者向專家請教,避免出現不必要的錯誤;這也可以減輕編輯部的負擔,為期刊的良心發展創造更好的環境。
