Mr. Johnson had never been up in anaeroplane before and he had read a lot aboutair accidents, so one day when a friendoffered to take him for a ride in his ownsmall plane, Mr. Johnson was very worriedabout accepting. Finally, however, his friendpersuaded him that it was very safe, and Mr.Johnson boarded the plane.
His friend started the engine and beganto taxi onto the runway of theairport. Mr. Johnson had heardthat the most dangerous part ofa flight were the take-off and thelanding, so he was extremelyfrightened and closed his eyes.
After a minute or two heopened them again, looked outof the window of the plane, andsaid to his friend, \"Look at thosepeople down there. They look assmall as ants, don't they?\"
\"Those are ants,\" answeredhis friend. \"We're still on theground.\"
