Prep 準備
Host: In just 48 hours these women have to become 1)pros and perform in front of a packed house. Training them? The men they love—successful comedians.
OK now, head home and get to work. You’ve got only two days to turn these women into stand-up 2)comics.
Stephanie: I would have never once wanted to be on stage.
Joe: The hardest thing for Stephanie is to just let it all go.
Ardie: She’s like a bird. I’m trying to just help fly. You know, I’m just pushing her outta the nest. She’s the one that’s gonna have to flap the wings.
Ciara: I feel like Ardie expects a lot, and I want to give that, but I feel like maybe he should just not expect so much…so soon. I think it’s very frustrating because it comes so easily to him, and you’ve got this pro at what he does telling you how easy it is when you know it’s not. I’m not a comic. I don’t do comedy every night.
Stephanie: I feel a lot of pressure to develop3)punch lines by the time of the competition. I don’t know that I can do it. (to Joe) What should I do about the whole 4)improv thing?
Joe: Do what we worked on and then…
Stephanie: I’m worried, ’cause what they said thatthey…
Joe: There’s gonna be an accidental improv somewhere in there, but don’t plan it.
Showdown決戰
Ciara: He tries to dress young and he tries to dress hip. He wears a wallet chain. You know, he wears a wallet chain. And it’s, you know, usually I like it, you know, but not on him. You know, on him it’s more like…5)janitor. Where are the keys?
Stephanie: The last time I was on stage was in the third grade play. I was 6)cast as a rat. That’s not good for a third-grader’s self-esteem. So I went into Psychology. Go figure. But I married a comedian. He talks for a living. I listen for a living. I think he takes advantage of the situation. He talks 7)incessantly, and it’s all about himself. I think he might hold a record that I’m unaware of. If I open the Guinness Book, I would not be surprised to see his picture: “Joe Matarise, quickest redirection of a conversation back to oneself. One point three five seconds.” Unreal!
Host: The judges felt that, Stephanie, it was a little bit 8)rote. They were concerned with…with how memorized it was but you had great material, you had great presence.
Ciara, they felt that your material should have been a little bit stronger. But the judges loved your 9)spontaneity and your energy.
So the winner of the $20,000…is…Stephanie. You’re the better half. Steph and Joe, you’re the winners.
