Abstract:Evaluation is an important component in English teaching. For years, summative evaluation has been the main form of evaluation in English teaching and learning in China, while formative evaluation has been neglected. A number of negative effects have been caused by such a traditional evaluation system. English teaching is divided into several modularizations in this study: visual listening, reading, speaking, and network study. This paper introduces another evaluation method in the English Modularization Teaching. It points out that summative evaluation is not the only measurement in curriculum development. It is important to have some changes and to combine both formative and summative evaluation procedures.
