In our daily lives， we often throw away things we don't need any more. Sometimes， some of them may cause serious pollution. Have you ever thought about how these things can actually be put to good use？

Many years ago， people never thought about buying drinking water. But today， millions of people must buy drinking water because clean water is geting hard to find. This is just one example of a huge problem. There aren't enough resources left. If we continue to waste these natural resources， our life will get much more difficult. One day， we may even have to pay for the air that we breathe！ But it is still not too late. There are things that we can do to make things better. We can remember the “3Rs\"： Reduce， Reuse，and Recycle.

To reduce means to use less. Here are some simple things that you can do to reduce waste.

·Turn off the water while you brush your teeth.

·Take a cloth bag when you go shopping so you won't need to use plastic bags.

To reuse means to use something again. Here are some examples.

·Buy things that you can fill again，like refillable shampoo bottles.

·Use both sides of a sheet of paper before you use a new one.

To recycle means to make something new from used things. Fortunately，recycling is now a common practice in most parts of the world.

Please remember to reduce，reuse，and recycle. If you do this， the quality of life will improve for us and our children.

There are a lot of ways about how we should change our lives to help save our planet. What do you usually do every day to save our planet？

（Jim Barnes， 15，from Oxford，talks about what his family does every day to save the planet.） A common UK family produces more than one ton of rubbish a year. Some of these waste takes hundreds of years to decay. It also costs lots of money to keep buying new things to replace the things we throw away.

So to help save the planet and save money， our family has decided to recycle everything. We collect used things，such as paper and bottles，and put them into different bins. After they are treated in the recycling place they can be used again. This will help reduce a lot of waste. We're also going to grow our own vegetables and we already keep hens. Soon， we can eat our own eggs for breakfast.

In a year， a family like ours uses about 4，8OO kWh for watching television， taking showers， using the dishwasher and the washing machine，and more. This is a lot.To produce this much energy，a lot of pollution is created. This pollution can cause health problems and global warming.

Because of all this，we decide to do something to save electricity. We watch less TV and use low energy light bulbs now. We stop using the dishwasher. Mum also tries to save energy while cooking.

What's more， we try to use our car less to cut down on air pollution. My dad organises a car pool with our neighbours and they take turns driving to work.And I ride my bicycle to school.

How to cut down on air pollution

Air pollution is a serious problem affecting many parts of the world， particularly in large cities and industrial areas. It results in respiratory diseases and can affect the healthy growth of plants. It can also lead to global warming. Agricultural and human activities are the main culprits，emitting harmful gases into the air.

To solve this issue， we must first identify and address the sources of pollution. Factories should adopt cleaner production methods like solar power or hydro energy.Public transportation should be encouraged. Many people complain that always taking public transportation is not realistic and less convenient than driving one's own car， but given the situation，some compromises should be made.If we each take a small step forward then it would be both a huge and a crucial step to successfully addressing air pollution.

Moreover， people should try to recycle，reuse and reduce the garbage they consume in order to avoid litter-burning which will emit more detrimental gases into the air.

As individuals，we can reduce air pollution by doing： good minor deeds every time.We can contribute by not smoking in public，changing to more renewable energy——like solar and wind power-and planting trees to absorb the harmful chemicals in the air. Only through collective effort and a strong and united will can we solve the problem of air pollution and protect our planet for future generations.

Air pollution is a serious problem affecting many parts of the world，particularly in large cities and industrial areas.It results in respiratory diseases，worse growth of plants， and even global warming！

Main culprits of severe air pollution are human activities，as well as some natural disasters.Some detrimental human activities include factory emissions and the emissions of automobile exhaust.Furthermore，some seemingly insignificant behaviors in life can also lead to air pollution，smoking is one of them.

Our society has already taken action to reduce harmful emissions and encourage people to live a greener life.Take a look at the app： Ant Forest.It’s a public welfare project aimed at promoting low carbon emissions among the public.Everyone's low carbon behavior in Ant Forest can be counted as“green energy”.When the accumulation of“green energy' reaches a certain level，one can apply for planting a tree in some areas.

Asindividuals，we can also do a lot.Firstly，we can actively participate in environmental volunteering and raise awareness of environmental protection.Secondly，we can try to reduce consumption of liter and do a better job in garbage classification.Last but not least， we should choose a greener lifestyle.We can choose green travel，ride more or walk more.Not only can this reduce exhaust emissions，but it can also exercise the body.

Only through collective effort and a strong and united will can we solve the problem of air pollution and protect our planet for future generations.
