Lets take the workplace as an example. Through discussion and argument， workers share their thoughts and ideas openly and respectfully. This provides an opportunity for all voices to be heard， thus promoting mutual understanding. Obviously， this is conducive to reaching agreement. On the other hand， in environments that discourage discussion and argument， workers will avoid speaking their mind for fear of reprimand from a higher-up.
