The Secret to Growth

I remember a dedication activity in my primary school. A teacher gave guidanceto four student representatives. One of the girls didnt keep an open mind. At that time，the teacher smiled and asked her， “When you pour the water in the teapot into theteacup， can the teacup be placed above the teapot？”The girl shook her head and said， “Definitely not.”The teacher said， “So you know this truth！ When a person islearning， he should humbly lower himself like a teacup， so that he can absorb thewisdom and experience of others.”

So what tips do we need to guide us as we grow up？

Steve Jobs once said，“Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”I think“staying hungry”is aself-driven pursuit of a goal， and“staying foolish”is an attitude.

British supermodel Lily Cole， who rose to fame at the age of 17. However， shetook off her heavy makeup and studied hard. In just three years， she received adegree in art history from University of Cambridge， graduating with a double first.

I believe that all the great people became great because they were willing tolearn and worked very hard. This is the secret we need to grow up.

成長的秘訣

記得在我小學時的一次獻詞活動中，一位老師對四名學生代表進行指導。其中一個女生不太虛心。當時，那位老師笑著問她：“你把茶壺的水往茶杯里倒時，茶杯能放在茶壺上面嗎？”那位女生搖搖頭說：“肯定不行。”老師說：“原來你懂得這個道理啊！人在學習的時候，就要像茶杯一樣虛心地放低姿態，才能吸納別人的智慧和經驗。”

那么，我們在成長過程中，需要哪些秘訣指引我們呢？

史蒂夫·喬布斯曾說過：“求知若饑，虛心若愚。”我想，“求知若饑”是自我驅動的對目標的奮斗追求；“虛心若愚”則是一種態度。

英國超模莉莉·科爾17 歲成名。然而，她褪去濃妝，潛心苦讀。僅三年，她攻下了劍橋大學藝術史學位，并以雙科第一的成績畢業。

我想，那些偉大人物之所以偉大，是因為他們都樂于進取和努力。這就是我們所需的成長秘訣。
