The Gospel of Markchronicles a day from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry1ministry事工，即神職人員的傳教。. 《馬可福音》記載了耶穌傳教伊始的一天。

Friday, afternoon Capernaum

A fter the worship service, Jesus and His disciples retreated to a small house located only 84 feet southeast of the synagogue2synagogue猶太教會(huì)堂。, toward the water. Built of unworked basalt3basalt玄武巖（深色的火山巖）。stones, the house belonged to Simon (Later named Peter),but it was also a place that Jesus would call home while He lived in Galilee(Mark 2:1).

[2]The square complex contained a series of small, irregular-shaped rooms that surrounded two courtyards. A few animals could be seen feeding in one of them. The largest room stretched 21 feet by 20 feet and was rarely absent of activity. Because the walls lacked the necessary mortar4mortar灰漿。to support the weight of the terracotta5terracotta赤陶土。roofs used in wealthier houses, a series of thin, criss-crossing6criss-crossing縱橫交叉的。wooden beams made due for a ceiling,with palm fronds7palm frond棕櫚葉。and woven leaves laid on the beams and caked in mud to provide a watertight8watertight不透水的。layer. A small clay oven in the north courtyard allowed the wheat that Jesus and His disciples pick in the fi elds to be cooked into bread (Matthew 12:1). The house was slightly larger than other complexes in Capernaum—the luxury of a fi sherman’s income. But on this day, the day Jesus spoke at the synagogue, the two courtyards and the small adjoining rooms couldn’t contain the large numbers of Galileans who“gathered at the door” (Mark 1:33).

[3]As Jesus stepped through the north entrance of the complex, Simon led Him to the entrance of the central room to the immediate left. An older woman was lying down in agony on a cot9cot小床。. It was Simon’s mother-in-law, who was sick with a fever. Malaria and dysentery10dysentery痢疾。were common illnesses for those who lived and worked near the coast of subtropical Capernaum.

[4]Suddenly, Jesus bent down, took the woman by the hand and, to the shock of everyone in the room, pulled her to her feet. Simon couldn’t believe his eyes. “The fever left her” (Mark 1:31).

[5]Questions surfaced in his mind.Can this man be the long-expected Messiah11（猶太人盼望的救主）彌賽亞。who will deliver us from Roman occupation? Is this the prophet that Isaiah12（人名）先知以賽亞。predicted so long ago? The one who “will honor Galilee of the nations,by the Way of the Sea13即前文提及的連通埃及和敘利亞帝國(guó)（今伊朗、伊拉克、以色列、土耳其和敘利亞）的Via Maris商道。, beyond the Jordan”? (Isaiah 9:1)

[6]By the evening,sick and dying people had swarmed Simon’s house. Apparently, the word had spread beyond the walls of Capernaum to Chorazin, Bethsaida and Magdala14（地名）哥拉汛、伯賽大、抹大拉。. There was a new prophet in town—another Elijah15（人名）希伯來圣經(jīng)（即舊約）里的著名先知以利亞。. And with only a touch from His hand, He could heal any sickness and disease.

[7]A shofar16shofar羊角號(hào)。echoed through the city.A total of six blasts from the ram’s horn sounded, each one signaling to the Jews that the Sabbath17Sabbath安息日，在星期六。day was about to commence. The first blast was a reminder to stop working in the fi elds, the second to close shops and the third allowed for last-minute preparations like the baking of a small fi sh or loaf of bread. The fourth, fifth and sixth—blown at sunset—occurred in rapid succession to remind Jews that no work was allowed for 24 hours. From Friday evening to Satur-day evening, Jews observed the laws that Yahweh had given them.

[8]Jesus knew the consequences for breaking the Sabbath laws. It was a capital offense18capital offense死罪。. “Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death” (Exodus 31:15). Some Jews, so afraid of desecrating19desecrate褻瀆（圣物或圣地）。this day of rest,refrained from relieving themselves20relieve oneself解手。until after the Sabbath had ended. And yet, “that evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick … and Jesus healed man who had various diseases …”(Mark 1:32, 34).

[9]The news of this Sabbath-breaking Healer spread “quickly over the whole region of Galilee” (Mark 1:28).The demand for His attention would be so great that when the crowds couldn’t enter Simon’s house from the side,they would enter the central room from above. On one occasion, Jesus looked up and saw a small hole in the ceiling expanded to reveal the silhouette21silhouette剪影。of a paralyzed man being lowered through the roof on a pallet22pallet褥墊。. For Jesus on this Sabbath evening, there was no time to rest. The day was far from over. ■

星期五，下午迦百農(nóng)

敬拜儀式結(jié)束后，耶穌和門徒退至?xí)脰|南約25米外一座朝向湖水的院舍。這座用粗糙的玄武巖蓋成的院舍主人是西門（后來被改名為“彼得”），不過耶穌在加利利居住時(shí)也把它稱為“家”。（《馬可福音》2:1）

[2]方形的院舍有好幾間形狀不規(guī)則的小屋，圍成兩個(gè)小院，其中一個(gè)院子里有幾頭家畜在吃食。最大的房間6.4×6.2米，不足40平方米，里面幾乎每天都少不了聚會(huì)活動(dòng)。石頭墻壁缺少富裕人家支撐陶瓦屋頂用的必要的灰漿，僅有單薄的木梁交錯(cuò)支撐，木梁上也僅鋪著棕櫚葉和編織的葉子，再加上一層泥漿防漏。北院有一個(gè)小土灶，耶穌和門徒從地里撿來的麥子可以在此做成面包（《馬太福音》12:1）。這座院舍比迦百農(nóng)的其他院舍稍大些，也是收入好的漁夫才享有的。不過今天，正值耶穌在會(huì)堂講道的日子，太多加利利人“聚集在門前”（《馬可福音》1:33），兩個(gè)院子和這些毗鄰的屋子也容納不下。

[3]耶穌踏進(jìn)房舍的北門，西門帶他進(jìn)入緊靠左側(cè)的主屋。一位老婦正痛苦地躺在小床上。她是西門的岳母，正發(fā)高燒。瘧疾和痢疾是生活勞作在亞熱帶迦百農(nóng)海濱人們的常見病。

[4]突然，耶穌彎下腰，抓住老婦的手。令屋里每個(gè)人都驚異的是，他把她扶起來站住了。西門簡(jiǎn)直不敢相信自己的眼睛，“高燒竟退去了”（《馬可福音》1:31）》

[5]西門的腦海涌現(xiàn)出諸多疑問：“此人就是我們久久盼望要把我們從羅馬統(tǒng)治下拯救出來的彌賽亞嗎？”“此人就是以賽亞早就預(yù)言的那位先知嗎？”“‘予以外邦人的加利利地、這沿海之路、約旦河之外榮耀的人’（《以賽亞書》9:1），就是他嗎？”

[6]到了晚上，患病和垂危的人擠滿了西門家。很顯然，消息已經(jīng)從迦百農(nóng)傳到了哥拉汛、伯賽大和抹大拉：本地來了一位新先知——以利亞再世啊！只要病人能夠觸摸到他的手，他就能治愈任何輕疾重病。

[7]羊角號(hào)回響全城。羊角號(hào)一共要吹響六次，每次號(hào)響都是提醒猶太人安息日就要開始。第一次提醒人們停止田間的勞作，第二次提醒關(guān)閉店鋪，第三次提醒烤小魚或面包最后一道工序完畢，第四、五、六次號(hào)角在日落時(shí)分吹響，急促而連續(xù)，提醒猶太人24小時(shí)之內(nèi)不許做工。從星期五晚上到星期六晚上，猶太人遵守著耶和華神給他們的誡命。

[8]耶穌知道違反安息日誡命的后果，那可是死罪：“凡是在安息日做工的人，必將其致死（《出埃及記》31:15）”。有些猶太人不敢褻瀆這安息之日，不等到安息日結(jié)束就不敢去廁所解手。然而，“日落天晚后，有人帶著害病的和被鬼附身的人來到耶穌跟前。……耶穌治好了許多害各樣病的人……”（《馬可福音》1:32,34）。

[9]這位敢破規(guī)例給人祛病的人的事跡“很快就傳遍加利利的四方”（《馬可福音》1:28）。要找他看病的人太多了，以至于人們從側(cè)門都擠不進(jìn)西門家，就從上面進(jìn)入主屋。耶穌偶爾抬頭，看見屋頂上一個(gè)小孔被挖寬，露出一個(gè)剪影：躺在褥墊上的癱子正被縋下來。對(duì)耶穌來說，這個(gè)安息日之夜根本沒有時(shí)間休息。這一天還遠(yuǎn)未結(jié)束。 □
