翻譯“學習”時區(qū)別study和learn

1.要增強學習本領(lǐng)，在全黨營造善于學習、勇于實踐的濃厚氛圍，建設(shè)馬克思主義學習型政黨，推動建設(shè)學習大國。

We should be good at learning.We will foster a strong atmosphere of learning and practicing in the Party, and build our Party into a Marxist learning party.We will nurture a love of learning in our people.（此語境中用learn，不用study；study是研究性的學習，并不意味著是否信仰所學內(nèi)容）

2.各級黨組織和全體黨員要帶頭遵法學法守法用法。

Every Party organization and every Party member must take the lead in respecting,learning about, observing, and applying the law.（“學法”英文未譯為study law，其含義是專業(yè)學習或研究法律）

3.深化馬克思主義理論研究和建設(shè)。

We will work harder tostudyand develop Marxist theory.

“素質(zhì)教育”的翻譯

1.發(fā)展素質(zhì)教育

enhance our students’well-rounded development（有高校將其直譯為suzhi education是錯誤的）

2.大力提高國民素質(zhì)

promote thewell-rounded developmentof all our people

用典翻譯

1.行百里者半九十。

The last leg of a journey just marks the halfway point.

A just cause should be pursued for the common good.

用地道的專業(yè)詞匯翻譯

“貧困發(fā)生率”曾譯為poverty occurrence rate、poverty incidence rate，最后定為poverty headcount ratio。以下是英文定義：Poverty headcount ratio is the most common method of measuring and reporting poverty, given as the percentage of population that is below the poverty line.

貧困發(fā)生率從百分之十點二下降到百分之四以下。

The poverty headcount ratio has dropped from 10.2 percent to less than 4 percent.

這說明掌握一定的專業(yè)術(shù)語十分重要。□
