Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow and Its Influence in Modern Advertising

This essay will talk about the origin of this artwork simply introduce the designer and the artworks value as a national cultural relic. It will also talk about the influence of the Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow in modern Advertising.

Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallows three feet is rising on the air and another foot is standing on a flying swallow. The swallow is looking at the back very astonished. The horse treading on the swallow can express the horse is running so fast. （page 132， Yu Ming）

Expressing motion is used in many advertisements in this modern China. Like this Adidass Olympic advertisement in China. An athlete is playing basketball. She is treading on a lot of people and wanting to dunk. The athlete is flying above a lot of people can express the lithe of the athlete. Her body is strong but also agile. Just like Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow.

Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow also used dynamics. Cause this artwork only have one leg touching the ground. Therefore it is a big problem to make the horse standing stably on the swallow. To make that become possible， the artist need to calculate the centre of gravity of the horse carefully. Porsche 911 Sculpture （see fig 3） ，is a good example that use dynamics. The designer of this sculpture Gerry Judah， created three column that hold three iconic Porsche sports cars 35 meters high in the sky. It not only expresses the speed of the car， but also very stable.

Horse culture is blooming in Eastern Han Dynasty in China. The cavalry is very important arms for resistance the Huns. So， a large number of art works which took the figure of horse are born in that period. The most admirable one is the Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow （page 46， Xia De Mei 2012）.
