Danish brand elements such as Lego bricks and butter cookies are popular all over the world. In fact, to adapt the stories of Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish master of fairy tale, has been proved to be an interesting “challenge”. The finals of the first iHavruta Cup Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tale Competition hosted by the consulate general of Kingdom of Denmark in Chongqing was held at the Chongqing Cathay Art Center in May 27th. Based on Andersen’s fairy tales, the young children have played such classic tales as The Nightingale, The Little Mermaid and Thumbelina through lectures, short play and other forms. During the performance, the children have brought audiences into a dreamy and fantasy world by vivid role-play as fairies.
The competition has attracted almost 1000 students from over 100 kindergartens and primary schools since its launch in April this year. After audition, preliminaries, semi-finals and finals, nine competitors stood out and got top 3 of kindergarten group and primary group.

Le Musheng, consul general of Denmark in Chongqing, said that all awardees would have the invitation to visit Andersen’s hometown Denmark and the Odense Museum, which would open a window for friendly exchanges between Chongqing and Denmark. “Chongqing is a city built on rocks.Mountains and rivers are perfect elements of fairy tales. Besides, we have the Raffles Square and other new landmarks as well as numerous historical cultural relics, which are excellent tourist resources worth being introduced to the Danish people.” Le suggested. Still, he has expressed a strong desire for deeper exchanges between Chongqing and Denmark during his term of office.
