Danxia landform： A colorful fairyland

Within the territory of Bobai County， hills occupy the major part of its domain. The unique Danxia landform is one of major attractions in Bobai County， Guangxi. The Danxia landform refers to a unique type of petrographic geomorphology consisting of a red bed characterized by steep cliffs that is mainly found in southeast， southwest and northwest China. The Danxia landform was mainly formed from the Cretaceous Age. In August 2010， Chinas Danxia landform was inscribed on the World Natural Heritage List.

Bobais Danxia landform is an impressive and unique landscape of great natural beauty， containing a wide variety of well developed red-bed landforms such as peaks， towers， mesas， cliffs， valleys， caves and arches. Its component parts display a clear landform sequence from “young” through “mature” to “old age”. The process of its development is characterized by a particular rock sequence， tectonic background， climatic conditions， erosional processes and landforms， and these processes have been presented as an interim model.

Yanshi Mountain situated in Shiping Village， Dungu Town， with an area of about 24 square kilometer， is formed from reddish sandstone that has eroded over time， creating a range of mountains surrounded by curvaceous cliffs and unusual rock formations， and demonstrating the richness of Danxia landform. The mountain stretches neatly with clear ridges inclining to the same direction. The peaks， in various shapes and hues， stretch along the Nanliujiang River. Boat trips along the river are offered to visitors. To the south， the mountain ridges cross each other and peaks are in a variety of colors， including yellow， brown， red and bronze. The colors change with the light of a day， making the topography seems alive. One landscape photographer once said： “The best time to catch Danxias beauty is on a sunny day， especially after a rain.”

Bobai Countys Danxia landform offers a magnificent scene， peculiar shapes and bright colors， making itself the most typical region in Guangxi. In addition，

it has a very high scientific and tourism value. Yanshi Mountain has dense forests where ancient vegetation and modern vegetation coexist， revealing an important and on-going process of biology and ecology. Moreover， Yanshi Mountain boasts many cultural relics such as Yanshi Temple， Daxian Bridge and stone inscriptions. The Yanshi Temple， built in the Tang Dynasty and hung in the middle of the cliff， is still in perfect condition after so many years. On the sides of some cliffs， there are full of stone inscriptions eulogizing the beauty of Yanshi Mountain by celebrities in history. Visitors can take in the natural beauty by cruising along the river on a bamboo raft or climbing the mountains to admire the ancient Yanshi Temple nestled in the cliff.

Standing high in the mountain， with the clouds floating under your feet and the wind in the pine trees resounding above your head， the peak of Yanshi Mountain occasionally is appearing and disappearing in the clouds， and one will be reluctant to leave.

With postcard-perfect scenery surrounded by lush greenery and craggy peaks， Qianhe Island in Bobai County is quite literally a world in fairy tales. As one of the ecosystems with the richest biodiversity and the highest productive force， the immense forests of Qianhe Island is able to regulate torrid temperature and reinforce dikes with their exuberant roots， providing an ideal habitat for aquatic plants and birds. Every year， thousands of egrets fly through the region as they migrate between the northern and southern hemispheres.

In Bobai， thermal springs can bring you another kind of enjoyment. The Wenluo Hot Spring is a famous mineral spring sanitaria for travellers. Hot spring is esteemed as divine water， which can be used to stretch bones and muscles and make the blood flow， so as to get rid of coldness and diseases. Due to their high levels of hydrogen sulfide and various microelements， they have major medicinal value. With many chemical elements and rare elements， like carbonate， which can be absorbed through skin and kill pain， the hot spring has an obvious effect on arthritis and skin disease. The spring water also has the function of nerves-soothing， sedation， incretion-regulating， etc. The temperature of the water is up to 60?C， which is the outcome of the terrestrial heat and is hot enough to boil eggs and corn. If you go to Bobai， do make sure you take a bath there. It is really good for your health， and it is funny as well！

Liang Lyuzhu was an ancient beauty born in Bobai County. Although she died more than 1，700 years ago， the Lyuzhu culture is strong today， leaving lots of historic and cultural sites such as Lyuzhu Temple， Lyuzhu River， Lyuzhu Spots to display and show the moving folklore behind Liang Lyuzhu. Folklore as part of an oral culture has its own unique value， always attracting peoples attention and love. Lyuzhus legend has important historical value， reflecting people of various historical events and bearing an impressive story. To some extent， it can also fill historical gaps. Moreover， Lyuzhus legend has played an important role in todays society， helping us understand local culture and peoples moral character.
