Formation of the Internet Violence and Its Effect

【Abstract】This paper analyses the formation of the Internet Violence in both behaviour and psychology point of view. The effect of Internet Violence is studied on the aspects of moral kidnapping， public sarcasm and privacy invasion. The measurements and solutions are also illustrated to reduce and seize the Internet violence.

1. Introduction

With the development of the Internet around the world， a new form of Internet society starts to exist， which also comes with the Internet violence. The Internet violence is a type of behaviour which create and distribute the words， audio or video content for assaulting and attacking the confirmed or unconfirmed Internet news or incidents， causing damages to the reputation of the victims. The formation of the Internet violence has the reason of both internets itself， as well as the minds of Internet users and media.

2. Formation of Internet Violence

As Internet users are anonymous and people are given free space for speeches， users normally have less sense of duty， making it easier for people to talk without responsibility， leading to aggressive behaviours. The efficiency and publicity of the Internet can lead to a rapid distribution of the aggressive words， which makes the effect of Internet Violence very severe. From the psychology view， some attackers have the minds of moral judgement， they try to release their own pressure and negative thoughts by their words. Another group of attackers are trying to gain their awareness within society， who try to gain the larger right of speech and try to be the so-called mind leader.

The lack of responsibility on the Internet is also related to the public minds. Even though the Internet is anonymous， the crowd psychology also widely exists on the Internet. On one hand， the crowd psychology is part of the subconscious. On the other hand， web users normally visit a number of frequent sites， the group influence can also lead to crowd psychology， which can create Internet violence.

3. Effect of Internet Violence

The Internet violence is often created by moral kidnapping. A number of posts with cursed and forced can be spread in a large scale， requesting the victim to apologise in public. The violence attack can not only lead to massive damage to victims but may also lead to the attack on innocents.

The Internet violence can lead to public sarcasm. The nature of the sarcasm in Internet attack is a type of suppress from a large group of people to a small group， which is a type of personality discrimination. Based on the logic of the minority obeying the majority， everyone may be attacked by the Internet violence. If Internet violence grows， more people would suffer from the attack， which may even lead to the social disorder.

The Internet violence can also lead to privacy invasion. The privacy invasions often happen during the cyber manhunt. The massive leak of privacy during cyber manhunt can lead to the violence of the rights of the name， photo， privacy， honour and so on. Some web users think that by initiating cyber manhunt， it is more efficient to search the evidence and locate the suspects. This is actually a very extreme thought， as it is an irrational behaviour which can lead to massive accidental injury.

4. Measurements

As the biggest invasion of the Internet violence is the violation of privacy， which is mainly because of the anonymous of the Internet. Therefore， the real-name registration of the Internet is particularly important. It is only possible to protect the privacy security of the web users if the relative laws on the Internet are filed and forced. To reduce the Internet violence， apart from the regulation from the laws， it is also essential to monitor the topics which may lead to the Internet violence， and seize the sign of violence when necessary. Besides the external regulations， it is also important to improve the moral awareness of public minds， people shall improve the self-awareness and self-restriction to regulate the Internet distribution.

5. Conclusion

The formation of Internet violence is a process which is caused by a number of factors. It has the origin of both Internet itself as well as the public minds. The effect of Internet violence is serious. To seize the Internet violence， apart from setting up the legislation and regulation， it is also important to develop the socialist and ethics culture. Internet users shall develop the self-regulation and awareness， and promote the civilized manners online.
