Far away from the true gender equality

We’re better than ever on the road of fighting against gender discrimination， but it’s still far away from the true equality between males and females. Many people have no idea about how the true fairness looks like. They just keep calling for rights of the weaker members and denouncing the stronger ones. It’s of high possibility that supporters of weak ones go beyond the line.

In the long history of a patriarchal society， we have already had many stereotypes that make it hard for us to think rationally and logically. That men are stronger than most of women in many fields， as we know， is a truth， so men get considered more capable.

In ancient times when people had to farm on the fields or operate machinery， those more capable males often played the role of moneymakers， because they really could do more tiring work. Then females seemed to be genetically programmed to hear the cry from babies and they started to be taking care of the whole family. The original sexual role division existed just like this.

After years， both males and females have gained working experience in their area and as the experience accumulates， it is more and more difficult for people to change their division. In brief， it’s funny to ask a man to take good care of his little baby nowadays， let alone cooking in the kitchens.

As the information technology is developing， strength is not important anymore. Social economy is improving so fast that our gender system can’t follow. Females also can make their value because they are equally blessed with a wise brain， but the stereotype in our mind forces women to be housekeepers. As a result， women are leading an awkward life.

In China， things are even worse. As salary from only one parent can’t support the family， many females in China have to do two jobs----earning money and caring for the family， for their lazy husbands don’t feel obligated to deal with house goods. Chances are that women are somewhat unable to find a balance between family and work. Under the stress of the family， it’s natural that women couldn’t do the job so well. That is why women get less paid.

Some of females don’t realize their situation， so they continue suffering. Some others recognize that so they want to make a difference. To some extent they’re just fighters. However， not all fighters are wise enough. A small number of them are crazy about power and hate men. About half of them want the same benefits but when it comes to devotion they just avoid it using the reason “I’m only a weak woman.”

What is important is that females are not the only victims. Under the old-fashioned patriarchy， males still suffer. Many boys are born with a heavy expectation. Many pay a lot of money to get loved and married by a girl like buying a wife. That is what a patriarchal society gives us. With the patriarchy having lasted thousands of years， changing the system of gender discrimination is a tortuous process.

A love story is not a story about a baby maker and a money maker. Despite series of problems we have， we’re trying to protest gender discrimination. Despite the progress we made， the true gender equality is still a dim shape. To make it out， there’s a long way to go.
