Exploration and analysis of the emergence of the ancient Olympic Games

There were always series of curiousness going though heads when I was watching the modern Olympic Games： when， and where did the Olympic Games hold for the first time？ How did it emerge？ And so on. The paper will focus on something about the emergence of ancient Olympic Games in Greece.

Each significant incident happened for some internal causes， so did the ancient Olympic Games. There are four main internal causes of the emergence of the ancient Olympic Games： the geographical environment， ancient Greek society civilization， ancient Greek art.

Geographical environment in Greece is the precondition of the emergence of the ancient Olympic Games. Creek farmland is infertile and it is uneasy to grow crops. Therefore， the ancient creek had to seek for food on sea and did business with the outside world. Just because of this， they had got a excellent opportunity to broaden their horizon， to increase their knowledge and learn about the culture beyond Greece. The typical lifestyle determined the Greek’s attitudes toward life： they were positive and optimistic， they were liberal and did diverging thing. By its mild climate and reliable sunlight， they were willing to do things outsides without clothes. It created perfect conditions for Greek to discuss in the opening air.

Ancient Greek society civilization determined the emergence of the ancient Olympic Games. In the middle of the 5th century B. C.， Greek polis had developed gradually. Greek polis was the political and financial center， which made sports possible to a kind of public activity. But for the emergence of the polis， sports could only be a kind of games for palace or family. In other words， it was Greek polis that provided sports with a clipping chance and precondition to be recognized and to become a sort of public activity. The essential principle of Greek politics was equality. Equality made it feasible that every athlete had the equal competition rules in contests， and it also guaranteed a fair contest could be held at that time.

Ancient Greek art was another impetus of the emergence of the ancient Olympic Games. In the ancient Greek period， a great many artists got together to communicate with each other about art. The place where they gathered was expansive and well protected turned to be an excellent sports field gradually. In other words， ancient Greek artists provided a place for the ancient Olympic Games indirectly. The artists， sculptors especially， always pursue the beauty of life relentlessly， meanwhile， they did realized that the vigor existed in athletes was the soul of sculpture art. The ancient Greek had deep love for art， and more and more people were willing to doing sports to show the beauty of their own body.
