European exhibition companies will invest heavily in their businesses: Members of EMECA, the European Major Exhibition Centre Association comprising 22 of the largest venues of the world by revenue, will invest up to 3.5 billion Euro in the coming years. These investments are being made in three key areas: Firstly, investments in indoor exhibition- and multifunctional space to their premises. Secondly, state of the art technology continues to be installed across all infrastructure and service application areas. Thirdly, around 100 new trade fairs are being implemented by the association’s members in 2017-2018, half of them in Europe, half of them outside Europe in international growing markets.

UFI has reported global growth in membership of around 6% within the past year. The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry now has over 750 members, the majority of whom are organisers (52%) and organisers with venues (17%). Since the Global Congress in Shanghai in 2016, the number of events approved by UFI has grown by 4%, with the total number approaching 1,000.

Recently, a report carried out by Explori and covered 1,040 trade shows from over 40 countries shows that: more than one-third of global exhibitors declare low levels of satisfaction with exhibitions they book, but show a high level of loyalty towards the respective show. This group of exhibitors is understood to be open to defecting to competing channels.

Due to be completed in mid-2019, the extension will provide an additional 11,000 sqm of flexible and multipurpose space, which means more room to comfortably accommodate larger exhibitions and international association meetings, as well as concurrent events, and the opportunity for many current clients to grow their events significantly.
