Text 1
W: My favorite fruit is grapes. How about you?
M: I like bananas the most.
Text 2
W: Mike, did you see my clock? I can’t find it anywhere.
M: It’s next to your dictionary on the desk.
Text 3
W: Can I help you, sir?
M: Yes, I’d like a cup of coffee, please.
Text 4
W: Look! Jack is swimming so fast.
M: He is very good at this sport. He goes swimming every weekend.
Text 5
W: I’ll fly to New York next month with my parents.
M: Great! Have a good time there.
Text 6
W: I’d like a yellow blouse to go with my black skirt.
M: Sure. What size do you want?
Text 7
W: Excuse me, sir. Smoking is not allowed in our restaurant.
M: I’m sorry. I didn’t know it.
Text 8
W: Do you remember Jason Smith? I ran across him this afternoon.
M: Of course I do. He was sitting between us when we were in primary school.
Text 9
W: Are these your new shoes? I like the color.
M: Yeah. I like green too.
Text 10
W: That’s it. I finally work out this math problem.
M: Congratulations! This is the hardest one.
Text 11
M: Hi, Ann. How are you?
W: Oh, hi, Bruce. What are you doing here? Are you shopping for yourself?
M: No, I’m not. I’m looking for a present for Sally. Tomorrow is her 13th birthday. But I’m not having much success.
W: Let’s find something here together.
M: OK. Any ideas?
W: How about a bag?
M: Good idea. She likes bags. What do you think of this blue one?
W: It’s nice, but I think it’s a bit expensive.
M: I guess you are right. What about these sunglasses?
W: She doesn’t wear sunglasses. Wait! Here! These skirts are very beautiful. And they are half-price. Do you like this one?
M: That’s great. Red is her favorite color. And they’re in style. OK, I’ll take this one.
Text 12
M: I heard you went to Jack’s party. How was it, Linda?
W: That was awful. I felt really embarrassed.
M: Embarrassed?
W: Oh, yes. Really embarrassed.
M: What happened?
W: Well, I was supposed to arrive at 7:30 but I arrived at 7:40.
M: Oh, so you were late. That’s not a good thing to do.
W: Yeah, but in my country it’s different. When you’re invited for 7:00, you’re supposed to come later!
M: I see.
W: Then when I met Jack’s mother, I kissed her.
M: Oh my! You were supposed to shake hands, instead.
W: That’s right. And I wore an expensive dress.
M: What’s wrong with that?
W: Well, it was a barbecue. Everyone else was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. I should wear like them.

Good morning, guys. I’m Kevin. It’s my turn to make a duty report today.
First, here’s good news about my mother. She’s got a new job now. She works as a teacher at a primary school. She likes it a lot. The only problem is that she gets up very early every day. She has to be at school at 7:30 in the morning.
My father wants to learn Chinese. He has lessons every afternoon. He’s really into it. My brother Sam and I usually go swimming. We go to the swimming pool five times a week. Sam finds it very boring, but I really enjoy it. I think it’s fun. I also want to learn to play a musical instrument. I can have guitar lessons on Mondays or piano lessons on Fridays, but I can’t decide which one to choose. What do you think? Can you tell me? That’s all. Thank you.
