Composition

Wu Mei(Fructus Mume)30g,Huang Lian(Rhizoma Picrorhizae)10g,Ce Bai Ye(Cacumen Platycladi)10g(stir-bake to scorch),Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei)10g(decoct later),Ku Shen(Radix Sophorae Flavescentis)10g,Shi Liu Pi(Pericarpium Granati)10g,Ku Fan(Alumen)15g,Huai Jiao(Fructus Sophorae)10g,Wu Bei Zi(Galla Chinensis)15g,Zao Jiao Ci(Spina Gleditsiae)15g,Bai Xian Pi(Cortex Dictamni)15g,Bo He Nao(Menthol)5g

Directions

All herbs except for Bo He Nao(Menthol)and Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei)are needed to be processed into powder(just for better effects,not necessary).Cook the powder for 30min with water,and add Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei)when there's 5min left.After the medicine is decocted,pour the clear medicine liquid out and add Bo He Nao(Menthol)in it.The liquid could be used externally several timesaday.

The boiled liquid of one package should be divided into 2 portions and each portion is a day dose.Wash the focus twice a day,one time at noon and one in the evening.Heat themedicineliquid beforeusing.

Supplement and Subtraction

Add Xie Bai(Bulbus Allii Macrostemonis)10g if hemorrhoidshaveprolapsed.

Indications

Internal hemorrhoids,External hemorrhoidsand Mixed hemorrhoids.

Contraindications

During thetreatment,do not eat spicy food and lamb.

1.The original formula does not explain Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei)should be decocted later.If boiling it with all others herbs together,Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei)will fail to fully exert its blood-activating and purgative effect.2.The dose of Shi Liu Pi(Pericarpium Granati)is too large.Originally,Wu Mei(Fructus Mume)and Wu Bei Zi(Galla Chinensis)have the effect of astringent,so too large dose of Shi Liu Pi(Pericarpium Granati)not only blocks defecation,but also influence dampness elimination.

3.It increases the amount of the Zao Jiao Ci(Spina Gleditsiae)to enhance the role of eliminating swelling and pus,which will help get rid of hemorrhoids.

4.It increases the dose of Bai Xian Pi(Cortex Dictamni),which help enhance the power of dispelling dampness and preventing the recurrence of hemorrhoids.

5.Bing Pian(Borneol)is changed into Bo He Nao(Menthol),for the latter one is of stronger potency.When using the original prescription,patients felt cool slightly around their anal,and the size of hemorrhoids did not change significantly.Since replacing Bing Pian(Borneol)with Bo He Nao(Menthol),thedrug efficacy has been enhanced obviously.According to relevant literature,the efficacy of Bo He Nao(Menthol)is much better than Bing Pian(Borneol).

Formulasanalysis

In the prescription,Wu Mei(Fructus Mume)has the convergence hemostatic effect. Shi Liu Pi(Pericarpium Granati) has the effect of intestine-astringent and hemostasis.Wu Bei Zi(Galla Chinensis) has the function of both intestine-astringent,diarrhea and hemostasis.The three-drug combination hasastringency and hemostasis effect and relieves patients’symptoms.With the function of cooling blood and stopping bleeding,the combination with Ce Bai Ye(Cacumen Platycladi)and Huai Jiao(Fructus Sophorae)will enhance the power of hemostasisand prevent bleeding again.

Huang Lian(Rhizoma Picrorhizae)has the effect of clearing heat,drying dampness,purging fire and removing toxin. Ku Shen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis)has the effect of clearing heat and resolving dampness,Bai Xian Pi(Cortex Dictamni)has the effect of relieving heat,resolving dampness and dispelling pathogenic wind,which can be used to treat wet sore.The combination of these three drugs could clear heat and dispel dampness,block the source of dampnessand heat.

Zao Jiao Ci(Spina Gleditsiae)has the effect of diminishing swelling,expelling toxin and pus.Ku Fan(Alumen)is a powerful cure among surgical medicine,which has the effect of dispersing phlegm,drying dampness and stopping bleeding.It can also accelerate tissue regeneration and repair.The two drugs combine with Sheng Da Huang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei),which has the effect of blood-activating and stasis-resolving,can reduce the size of hemorrhoids.Bo He Nao(Menthol)plays the role of inhibiting inflammation,relieving pain,dispelling pathogenic wind and dredging collaterals.As a messenger herb,it can lead all herbs focus on one position and enhance the transdermal absorption of medicine liquid,which can lead to notableefficacy.
