2. flunk out (of sth.) 因不及格而退學
to leave school or a course because of one’s failure
e.g. Fred flunked out of school and never tried to go back.
3. cram (for an exam or test) (為考試而)死記硬背,臨時抱佛腳
to study very hard for an exam
e.g. I have to go cram for a test now.
4. cut class / cut school 逃課,逃學
to skip a school class or a day of school without an excuse
e.g. As a joke, one day all the students cut their math class and went to lunch early. e.g. Jane was grounded after she cut school last Friday.
5. old school 守舊派
holding attitudes or ideas that were popular and important in the past, but which are no longer considered relevant or in line with modern trends
e.g. Grammar isn’t taught much nowadays, but fortunately my son has a teacher who’s old school and spends lots of time on it.
6. The party’s over 玩樂到此結(jié)束
a happy or fortunate time has come to an end
e.g. We go back to school tomorrow. So I guess the party’s over.
