Can You Solve the Mystery of UVB-76？

Suddenly the piercing[刺耳的] buzzing[嗡嗡聲] noise that has continued for months stops. A cold voice takes over.“U-V-B-7-6” is read out in a thick Russian accent[口音]， before listing a series of code words and numbers. Then， just as suddenly， it ends. The buzzing returns， for another few months.

That is what has greeted listeners of a mysterious[神秘的] radio station nicknamed “The Buzzer[蜂鳴器]”—And code named UVB-76， or more recently MDZhB—since the 1970s. The noise rings out on a frequency[頻率] of 4625 kHz， which anyone is able to listen in on[偷聽]， including online at one of several live streams[直播流].

But what the Buzzer is doing， or who is broadcasting[廣播] it， remains a mystery. Some people suggest it is a station used by the military[軍隊]， others suggest it may be a counter-attack[還擊] measure for nuclear war.

A Man Spends ￡300 to Treating Constipated[便秘的] Goldfish

A goldfish owner from Norfolk took his sick fish to Toll Barn Veterinary Centre in North Walsham， where vets told him it was constipated and an operation[手術] would cost about ￡300.

Vet Faye Bethell used anaesthetized[使麻醉] water to knock out[擊倒] the goldfish before removing the blockages. The operation， which took almost an hour， was performed by Miss Bethell， assisted[協助] by two nurses.

“The goldfish was constipated because he had a lump[腫塊] blocking his bottom， rather than because of his diet or any other reason，”Miss Bethell said. “Obviously， we discussed all the options [with its owner] and he made the decision to go for surgery[外科手術].”

Faye said the three inch fish made a full recovery after the 50-minute operation and it would have died if left untreated.
