A wide variety of chemicals are discovered or compounded to be used in food preservation, which not only expands the range of edible foods, but also greatly reduces diseases which may be caused by spoiled food. People often have such an impression "food additives = hazardous and noxious substances = dangerous fake products" because they lack basic understanding of poisonous effect and risk assessment concept of chemicals, and pursue the so-called "zero risk" of foods impractically.
In fact, if we refuses all food additives, it is afraid that half of the foods coming into our sight will be ugly, unpalatable, difficult to save, and too expensive to accept; meanwhile, a lot of waste will be produced, thereby causing a series of social problems.
