必修七Units3～4重點(diǎn)詞匯

在學(xué)習(xí)詞匯的過(guò)程中我們要善于用比較和歸類的方法記憶單詞，如比較同形異義詞、同音異形詞、同形異音詞等成串記憶單詞，并注意學(xué)習(xí)短語(yǔ)、固定搭配、習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)和句型。現(xiàn)在，我們來(lái)看看必修七Units 3～4的重難點(diǎn)詞匯。

1. witness

n. 目擊者；證人；證據(jù)

vt. 目睹；目擊

常用搭配： a witness to ... ……的證人，證據(jù)

witness to having done 出庭證明，作證說(shuō)……

One witness to the accident said that the driver appeared to be drunk. 事故的一位目擊者說(shuō)司機(jī)看上去好像喝醉了。

He witnessed to having seen the man enter the room. 他證明那個(gè)人進(jìn)了房間。

China has witnessed great changes in the past thirty years. 在過(guò)去的三十年里中國(guó)發(fā)生了巨大的變化。

2. abandon

vt. 遺棄；拋棄；放棄

常用搭配：abandon doing sth 放棄做某事

abandon oneself to .../be abandoned to 沉湎于……， 縱情于……

類似的常考短語(yǔ)還有：be addicted to（沉迷于……）， be used/accustomed to（習(xí)慣于...）， be absorbed/buried in（專心于……）， be employed/engaged/occupied in（忙于……）。

From Jamess face， I could see he was terrified of being abandoned by us. 從詹姆斯的臉上我能看出，他害怕被我們拋棄。

We are scared to abandon ourselves to our feelings in case we seem weak. 我們不敢放縱自己的情感，以免顯得太過(guò)軟弱。

3. reflect

vt. 映射，反射 vi./vt. 思考

常用搭配： reflect sb/sth in sth （指鏡子等）映出某人/物的影像

reflect sth from sth 從某物（表面）反射（光，熱，聲等）

reflect on/upon sth 反思某事

When the suns rays hit the earth， a lot of heat is reflected back into space. 太陽(yáng)光線照射到地球時(shí)，大量的熱被反射回太空。

Our newspaper aims to reflect the views of the local community. 我們的報(bào)紙旨在表達(dá)當(dāng)?shù)厝藗兊男穆暋?/p>

Before I decide， I need time to reflect. 在我決定前，我需要時(shí)間認(rèn)真考慮。

4. be/become aware of

覺(jué)察到，意識(shí)到……

同義詞組有：be conscious/sensible of/that-clause

常用搭配： as far as Im aware 據(jù)我所知

I dont think people are really aware of just how much it costs. 我認(rèn)為人們并不真正明白這要花多少錢。

As far as Im aware， nobody has done anything about it. 據(jù)我所知，尚無(wú)人對(duì)此采取任何措施。

5. adjust

vt./vi. 調(diào)整； （使）…… 適應(yīng)

常用搭配： adjust sth to sth 調(diào)整……以適應(yīng)

adjust （sb） to doing sth/sth （使）……適應(yīng)……

易錯(cuò)的同形詞有： adapt vt./vi. 改編； （使）…… 適應(yīng)……；adopt vt. 采納； 收養(yǎng)

It took her a while to adjust to living alone.她過(guò)了一段時(shí)間才適應(yīng)獨(dú)自生活。

This kind of desk can be adjusted to the height you need. Besides， its not expensive at all.這種課桌可以調(diào)整到你需要的高度，而且一點(diǎn)也不貴。

6. privilege

n. 特權(quán)，特別優(yōu)待

常用搭配：a privilege to do sth/of （doing）sth 做某事是榮幸的

have the privilege to do sth 有做某事的特權(quán)

be privileged to do sth 干某事是榮幸的

I hope to have the privilege of working with them again. 但愿有幸與他們?cè)俣群献鳌?/p>

We are privileged to have a distinguished guest with us tonight. 我們今晚有幸與一位貴賓在一起。
