Deutsche Messe AG, Hanover, is entering the Indonesian market for the first time as an exhibition venue operator. On July 8, 2014, PT Indonesia International Expo (PT IIE), Media Sinar Global (MSG), and Hannover Fairs International GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, signed a contract in Jakarta to run the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) site. The investors Sinarmas and Kompas Gramedia are entrusting all running of the ICE to Hannover Fairs International. To run the site, the partners are forming the joint venture “PT Deutsche Messe Venue Operations Indonesia”. Hannover Fairs International is to hold a 51% majority in the joint venture. This is the parting shot for hiring the venue. Customer inquiries have already been received and the first events will be held in January 2015. With 50,000 square meters of hall area and 50,000 square meters of outdoor area and a 4,000 square meters Convention Center, the ICE will, in future, be the largest and most modern exhibition venue in Indonesia. The venue, which is under construction, will be part of the newly created BSD City district.
