Sit in the front row， raise your hand， and ask questions.

A lot of people are shy and don’t want to do it， but for me it is the only way to get my questions answered and keep going. They call me a goody two-shoes， but who cares？

It’s Okay to cry when you don’t do well in a test.

Those emotions are there for a reason. You have to grieve your losses， but don’t let them stop you from doing great things.

But once you’ve gotten that far， it’s worth finishing. There are people you can go to， and ways to get around those feelings； you don’t need to use psychological services.

但是一旦你已經(jīng)開始學(xué)習(xí)，完成學(xué)業(yè)還是值得的。一旦你有那樣的想法，你可以找人傾訴，或找一些方法來(lái)進(jìn)行調(diào)整，沒(méi)有必要使用心理服務(wù)。

Never underestimate the importance of taking good， thorough notes.

不要低估做好、做全筆記的重要性。

I prefer organized， efficient， longhand note taking. I’m really grateful to my mom， who was a list-taker. I don’t come from a fancy academic family， but my mom knows how to make a good list， and that really helps me. Don’t be afraid to use too much paper.

我喜歡有條理的、高效的、普通書寫的筆記。我非常感謝我的媽媽，她很喜歡列清單。我沒(méi)有出生在學(xué)術(shù)氛圍濃厚的家庭中，但是我媽媽知道怎樣才能列出一張好的清單，這對(duì)我真的很有幫助。不要怕浪費(fèi)紙。

It’s helpful to have at least one person who doesn’t let you drop out.

如果至少有一個(gè)人不想讓你退學(xué)，那么對(duì)你來(lái)說(shuō)會(huì)很有幫助。

You often feel like your mom and dad， or your friend， don’t really get it. But it really helps me to speak to people in my department who have finished， even though they， too， feel discouraged.

你經(jīng)常覺(jué)得你的爸爸、媽媽或朋友根本就不明白你的處境。但是對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，和系里高年級(jí)已經(jīng)完成學(xué)位的人交流一下很有幫助，雖然有時(shí)候她們也覺(jué)得很氣餒。

Vocabulary

goody two-shoes：一個(gè)古老的俚語(yǔ)，表示“一個(gè)有美德的好人”。今天，它多用來(lái)形容“偽善的好人”，這種人往往會(huì)通過(guò)炫耀
