More and more superhumans joined the league of the magnificent， captained in recent years by actors such as Tobey Maguire， Hugh Jackman and Brandon Routh. They are actors who the millions of comics fans raise to that soaring peak each time they put on the cape or the mask of a famous superhero.

Reeve had to begin a workout2) regimen3) with former British weightlifting champion Dave Prowse. That rigorous training， coupled with a new diet， enabled the actor to add more than 28 pounds of muscle to his 179-pound-frame.

In addition to preparing physically for this role， Routh hired a body language professor to teach him the secrets of the superhero's famous posture: spine upright， legs slightly open， neck in a straight line and hips swung forward.

Routh then must also face the novelty of acting in a movie wearing a pair of tights closely adjusted to his body. \"It bothered me a lot at first， but I eventually got used to it，\" he explained. \"The first time that I put on the costume， I truly felt powerful.\"

The metamorphosis4) of Hugh Jackman transformed him into the star character of X-Men， the story of the mutants5) with superpowers created by Marvel6) in 1963 that debuted7) its movie version in 2000 and had sequels8) in 2003 and 2006. Jackman did such a good job playing the role of Wolverine that the superhero hit the silver screen solo in 2009.

A fan of low-impact sports like golf， Jackman had to train hard for his role as Wolverine. Trainer Steve Ramsbottom had him lifting weights for five months， two hours a day and five days a week. The idea was to give him muscle mass but leave him agile9)， which the character required.

I had to learn choreography11) for fights and how to hang from cables.\" It takes him an hour to put on the tight-fitting and less-than-comfortable Spiderman costume， which has to be fastened at the back. Maguire， an actor who， like Christopher Reeve in his time， knows how to give \"heart\" to his superhero.

The actor enveloped himself once again in the bat cape in 2008—a huge accomplishment for a Welshman.

Drama and acting are what has most inspired him in life， but his discipline is what has made him stand out from the crowd. When he filmed Batman Begins， he had just wrapped up18) The Machinist19) (2004)， a film in which he played an insomniac20). For that role， he lost almost 62 pounds aided by nothing more than his willpower， chewing gum， vitamins， salads， apples and skim milk. His philosophy is that \"An actor should never be more important than the movie in which he is acting\".

She exhibited all of her sensuality23) when she enveloped her curves in the Catwoman costume in 2004， and when she played the role of Storm， the sexy mutant of X-Men who's capable of changing the weather.

To prepare herself for the role of Catwoman， Berry learned to fight and use a whip. However， the media and the public were not very pleased with her performance in the role. In February 2005， she became the first actress to actually make a personal appearance to accept the Razzie Award24) for her role as Catwoman. \"When I was little， my mother told me that if you can't be a good loser， then there's no way you'll be a good winner either，\" she said upon accepting the award. Her performance in the saga of the X-Men movies has given her greater satisfaction.

Romijn is happy that the studios are finally proving that women can also make action movies.
