誤譯：After two days rest, the sportsman recovered fatigue.

正譯：After two days rest, the sportsman recovered from fatigue.

解釋：“恢復疲勞”的意思是“從疲勞中恢復過來”，即“消除疲勞”。從形式上講，“疲勞”是“恢復”的賓語。但是從邏輯上講，“恢復”的不是“疲勞”，而是“正常狀態”。英語不能說to recover fatigue，而要說to recover from fatigue。如：醫生說這種藥能夠幫助肌肉恢復疲勞。The doctor says that this medicine can help muscles recover from fatigue.“恢復”的第一個意思是“變成原來的樣子”。可譯為 to restore, to resume。例如：經過幾次談判，兩國決定恢復中斷了10年的外交關系。After a few negotiations, the two countries decided to resume diplomatic relations that had been suspended for 10 years. “恢復”的第二個意思是“變為正常的狀態”。可譯為to return to normal, to restore。例如：在醫生和護士的精心護理下，這位病人正在逐漸恢復健康。Being nursed carefully by the doctors and nurses, the patient is gradually restoring his health. “恢復”的第三個意思是“收回失去的東西”。可譯為to recover, to resume, to restore。例如：他們最終趕走了侵略者，恢復了失地。They finally drove away the invaders and restored their lost territory.▲
