An Interview with “Batman”

Joshua Rich (the interviewer): What brought you back to the part of Batman? Was there something that you didn’t

get to do in the first one that you were looking forward to doing this time around?

Christian Bale (“Batman”): Well， what we didn’t get to do was to show this man who has now matured[成熟]， who no longer has the naiuml;veté[天真] that he had at a younger age – now it’s somebody who has achieved what he had set out to do， but is now seeing consequences[結果] that he hadn’t anticipated[預期]. So it’s now somebody with the burden[負擔]

of his power – the difference between the man trying to

attain[獲得] that and the man who finds himself with it， and how very different it is.

JR: And do you think there will be a part 3 of Batman?

CB: Um， look， let’s wait and see...You know， obviously the decision is out of my hands. I would， knowing The Dark Knight story， I would like very much to complete a trilogy[三部曲]. And I think that knowing the story of The Dark Knight， it leaves you anticipating something that really can get very， very

interesting for a third. Now， the question would be: is Chris注 going to be doing it? Because to me， I find it tricky to imagine working on it without it being a collaboration with Chris.

JR: Back to The Dark Knight， can you talk a little bit about what it was like to work with Heath Ledger?

CB: Yeah， I’m absolutely fine talking about him. Heath was a joy. He really was like that， because he was a very unique man. I enjoyed watching him work， working with him – you know， we had a lot of the old gang[（一）伙] from the first one together， and then there were new members， Heath obviously included. What was so great to see with Heath is just how seriously he took it. And we don’t mean in any way to sound sort of pretentious[自命不凡的] with that， but just in the fact that if we don’t take it seriously， then how can any audience ever take it seriously? And he did a great job. When I saw the

clips[剪下的一段東西（如影片）] for the first time – it’s wonderful， it’s fantastic， and， you know， it gave me goose bumps[雞皮疙瘩] throughout， looking at Heath up there. And I just hope that this can celebrate him， celebrate his work.

克里斯蒂安·貝爾(“蝙蝠俠”)：上次我們沒有做到的是展現(xiàn)蝙蝠俠現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)變得成熟，不再有年輕時的天真——現(xiàn)在的他雖然已經(jīng)達到以往的目標，但同時也看到了不曾預料到的后果。所以現(xiàn)在他的能力成為一種負擔——過去他只是在追求這種能力，而現(xiàn)在他發(fā)現(xiàn)已經(jīng)擁有了，這是多么大的不同。

里奇：你認為還會有第三部《蝙蝠俠》嗎？

貝爾：那，我們等著瞧吧……你知道，決定權顯然不在我手上。我，我在知道《黑暗騎士》的故事以后非常希望能完成一個三部曲。我覺得當你知道這個故事講什么之后，你會很期待一些十分有趣的東西能用來拍第三部。現(xiàn)在的問題是：克里斯會繼續(xù)拍（第三集）嗎？
